I will say it time and time again that we are immensely lucky to live in such an amazing county with so much to see and do on our doorstep, however I have to admit that I have been slightly stuck in a rut and had stopped exploring what Nottinghamshire has to offer with the thought process of – I went there as a child.
Silly silly me.
Recently after hubs came home from work (he gets home at 2.30pm) we decided to get out and get some fresh air and at his suggestion we headed to Thoresby with its flat ground and plenty of open space it made an ideal bike riding spot for Joshua.
I love Thoresby and its picturesque farmland, its majestic walks and the lovely Thoresby courtyard that sells some amazing produce.
With the sun shining there were lots of visitors walking and even though there were lots of people milling about when we arrived we managed to escape most of them and find a quiet route
Joshua cycled wonderfully well and even attempted some slightly off tarmac riding which didn’t really go down well and ended up covered in mud.
While brining up the rear I got to marvel at one of the houses on the estate which I fell in love with.
There was some time spent blowing dandelion clocks and even playing pooh sticks and I am so pleased we did get out and blow the cobwebs away, I am too lazy at times and claim to often not see the point but seeing the smile on Joshua’s face and breathing in the fresh air while basking in beautiful surroundings I will certainly be making more of an effort in the future to get out and about and fall in love again with what is on our doorstep!
oh and eat ice-cream … of course!
