We recently went on holiday and in the throes of returning and planning what to tell you about the trip the terrible terrorist attack took over and it seemed inconsiderate to those that lost their lives in the Tunisian attack to post about our trip.
Since the holiday and the run up to the one we are currently on in Rhodes, we had planned to take Joshua swimming regularly to build up his ability in the water but life for in the way so we are hoping that during this holiday he will not slip backwards into nervousness in the water again.
When we arrived in Tunisia it had been a very long while since Joshua had been swimming and so on getting into the pool he was nothing short of petrified.
He shook, he cried and he outright humiliated Ollie with his wailing and snot, however the first 3 days we persevered in the water, often taking the concept little and often seriously! …
There were times throughout those first few days that we never thought Joshua would be confident in the water at all but eventually it clicked and he tootled round the pool on his own with his rubber ring with speed.
Joshua spent the remainder of the holiday in the pool almost every waking minute swimming up and down, round and round, often setting up races between him and Ollie or me and him, it was such a joy to see as his confidence grew.
I only hope that this week while we are away in Rhodes this confidence returns and Joshua is equally as happy in the water as he was end of the holiday in Tunisia! … Although here is hoping Ollie is feeling fighting fit ready for all the extra swimming! … Well, I can hope can’t I?
