As you know I am a Mum to 3 children. I currently look around my house and it is filled with newborn baby essentials for our latest adorable bundle of joy—essentials which I know I will use as opposed to the first time around when I really didn’t have a clue what babies needed.
Shops and magazines are filled with baby gear which they will have you believe you need and, if you are a first time Mum, you are very likely to believe it.
It is only when you have been there, done that and yes, you’ve got the t-shirt, that you begin to realise that half of what you purchased during your pregnancy hasn’t been used and now no longer fits or your baby is far too big to use it.
Sometimes it is also trial and error to find the perfect item for you and your baby. Bottles, sterilisers and even formula can be those which don’t fit all; you may find a great deal on babies’ bottles but it doesn’t mean your baby will actually take to that type, so it’s best to just buy a few to ensure they are used before spending a small fortune on 6-12 in various sizes which may be wasted. I’m sure I had a bottle warmer at some point as it seemed like a must-have item but, in fact, I may have used it once, maybe twice at a push.
Smart Insurance, UK life cover provider has released this helpful infographic which has been put together with the help of fellow bloggers. It outlines 36 essentials for expectant parents, listing the items which you may need throughout each trimester. It starts with the first trimester vitamins for Mum, sleep aids such as a pregnancy pillow for making sure Mum has a comfortable night’s sleep, waist expanders to make your clothes fit for longer without reaching straight for the maternity clothes, all the way through to your hospital bag essentials and nursery equipment.
Take a look for yourself. You are even able to download this list to keep safe and reference when you need it!
