The invites were doing the round ….
Dont get me wrong I am not a mean Mummy .. or I try not to be but I can’t stand kids parties …. there I have said it.
I have no idea if just my OCD and sticky fingers fears but surviving Beths for years was like an epic achievement, but the idea that I have to start all over again with Joshua is terrifying me!
Children being happy and enjoying themselves is always amazing don’t get me wrong but I am not heading for a Mummy of the year award trying to shrink away from the proffered invites am I.
The worst is the dressing up expectation … yes its all good to have a themed invite but where does that leave you if you dont have an already bulging dressing up box? … in my case in full blown panic.
When Beth was little I was pretty much a single parent and these themed parties really got me worked up, no one wants their child to be the odd one out but yet when Beth was little 10 + years ago dressing up and fancy dress was so so expensive that I used to make one outfit into many, like the Mrs Claus one above … yep I probably did more damage to my daughter mental state than I would like to admit to, but having the funds to buy once a months really did upset me.
Ten years ago fancy dress and dressing up really was a quite costly affair that left a hole in my heart and a very empty purse, however over recent years I have noticed that it is becoming more and more mainstream and more and more affordable (especially in online shops like Tesco Direct. to purchase just the right fancy dress costumes for just the right occasion.
My fear of fancy dress parties is something I am not sure I will ever get over but at least the dressing up box is starting to fill up.
Do you like Childrens parties?
