Over the years I have tried diet after diet and have gone from one extreme to another and let’s be honest non of them work when you boil it down to fact.
Our bodies are very clever things and need a varied diet to keep it running smoothly, however if like me you are upping the exercise each week increasing your protein intake is a very wise move, especially if you are looking to lose weight.
1, Protein can increase your metabolic rate meaning your body will burn more fat
2, Increasing protein can increase muscle mass as it builds and repairs muscles. Dont worry you don’t have to be a body builder to consider it. A hard workout at the gym can tire muscles and protein can help rebuild those tired worn muscles ready for their next gym work out and to help keep your body tip top.
3, If you are a snacker than protein can help since it leaves you feeling fuller for longer, helping to cut out the snacking urges!
4, Higher protein diets have interestingly been shown to lower blood pressure.
5, Those people who have a higher protein diet tend to have more energy and fell less sluggish than those without.
So if you are considering a higher protein diet, just how can you increase the protein in your diet?
Well, there are some great foods you can add in, such as cottage cheese, eggs, chicken and some fishes. However if you want a quick way to keep healthy and up the protein levels Whey protein shakes can be a great way to add protein super easily and cheaply too.
Don’t forget that if shakes are not you’re thing you can also cook and bake with whey protein too! Here are some of the recipes that look delicious!
If you do decide to have ago baking some protein goodies please do come back and share!
