It’s been a well documented fact that I am overweight over on my blog and after an epic journey of weight loss that saw me loose 5 stones at the beginning of my blog. After 3 major abdominal surgeries the weight gain had been expected but I am now taking action to regain my fitness and loose some flab.
Over the next couple of months I am working with XLS-Medical to replace 2 of my meals with their nutrition packed shakes as in conjunction with their Boost Buddies campaign and as part of that I needed to address my activity levels.
Now I know this sounds rather sad but working from home I have to admit my general activity every day as been super poor, clocking up just over 1,000 steps per day according to my fitbit.
My boredom at visiting the gym was at an all time high so I decided to get motivated with my weight loss with something that used to be fun for me. Tennis.
We are so lucky living here in a little village that we are surrounded by tennis courts and with them great coaches that offer 1 to 1 coaching and knowing that Tennis is great for fitness it was time to take the first step.
I booked my first lesson for the following week but if I am honest I came super close to making a run for it once i got there. My anxiety levels were sky high. Thankfully my lovely coach Matt arrived swiftly and there was no time to do a bunk.
The first week I was super nervous and it showed, last week thankfully I found I was able to be less tense and I have loved it.
My coach Matt has been super cool about my insecurities and the fact I struggle with my own body and this sometimes holds me back as I feel I need to cower in a corner. Actually though, who knew how much body insecurities actually held you back with simple things like how you stand and where you feel you need to put your body!
In all my time going to gym and hating it I am immensely gutted I put myself through it to be honest, I just wish I had started playing tennis instead.I just wish now I could play more than once a week but can’t afford a second lesson a week and so need to start looking for a tennis partner instead! I just want to keep playing!
