Over the years I got sucked into the mindset of thinking having a large baby changing bag was the way forward.
I was wrong.
I hate to think how much we have spent on ‘changing’ bags for when the kids were little.
We have just about tried most brands both cheap and expensive and for me they were all only stepping stones.
As soon as my little guys were on their feet, albeit wobbly feet, I changed to a more practical rucksack. While downsizing just how much we needed to take with us.
From day one massive lists of what you need to take with you every single trip with your baby is the norm.
However I can honestly say that at least 1/2 of the contents of my changing bag only ever sat in their gathering dust.
So it wont come as much of a surprise that this time round with Jacob I ditched the changing bag much sooner and opted for fun and funky rucksack instead.
My rucksack of choice has been Otis the Owl from Skip Hop. The Skip Hop Zoo Pack is a super sized junior rucksack that comes with and insulated pouch, a great sized main compartment with easy cleaning lining, comfy padded straps and a front zipped pouch.
My most loved purchase of my Skip Hop Zoo Pack was purchased from Amazon for under £20 and I matched this with the Skip Hop Zoo Lunchie again in my beloved Owl design.
The Skip Hop Zoo Lunchie bags have a roomy main compartment with wipeable interior that holds sandwiches, snacks, drinks and I even used it to store my expressed breast milk in before Jacob moved to a specialist formula and even used to carry my breast pump! Not bad for £14!
The Lunchie has a super clip on handle that makes it easy to clip on the pushchair or even onto the Skip Hop Pack.
I have loved using these 2 products and what has been even better has being able to adjust to only taking the rucksack out if heading to the shops or for all day trips adding in the Zoo Lunchie too.
So my transition to get rid of the big bulky changing bag has been a fund and funky adventure with Otis Owl on it with us. They had certainly been the best £34 I had ever spent and when Jacob gets big enough to carry his own pack then I am sure he is going to love these just as much as me.
Recently I was thrilled to receive some of the other products in the Skip Hop Zoo range that have really come into their own with Jacob.
The Skip Hop Zoo Straw Bottle Owl is easy for little hands to carry and can easily be opened by little fingers! It also comes with an extra straw insert and retails at around £6 each.
We have also had the pleasure of using the Skip Hop Zoo-tensil on Jacobs weaning journey. They come with our beloved Otis on the handles of each and are weighted and proportioned for little mites learning to feed themselves.
The other two products from the Zoo range we have been trying out are the Skip Hop Zoo Snack Cup – Which let me tell you for a raisin munching toddler has saved my bacon on more than one occasion. It’s great for keeping snacks inside unless little fingers dip in and collect the contents. Which Jacob has done with ease. With its surfer fastening lid we are gutted we haven’t had this for the last 6 months with Jacob! The Skip Hop Snack Cup is dishwasher safe and retails at £9.
Our final product we have been using as been great for those summer picnics and that has been the Skip Hop Zoo Lunch kit.
It comes with a small snack container inside and super cute detailing on the side clips of leaves as the catches. The Zoo Lunch Kit easily fit inside a Skip Hop Zoo Lunchie insulated lunch bag and it a great size for little kids to fit in all those food essentials! The lunch kit is a super price of £11.
What I adore about the whole range is that you can tailor it to what is relevant to your little one. Not to mention being able to choose a Zoo character from a choice of around 15 characters that are easily available here in the UK.
I adore my Skip Hop Zoo bags and accessories but so wish I would have found them sooner into my parenting journey as they would have saved me a small fortune!
Thank you Skip Hop for showing me that baby changing bags don’t always have to be boring and expensive! … I choose multifunction and fun any day!
