When I first thought about making my reverse advent about supporting the Women’s Aid Refuge I was in after domestic violence 16 years ago I had no real idea at what I was going to send in, nor did I realise just how amazingly generous some of the brands I work with were going to be.
Although I am donating something everyday I have inundated with some amazing products from some fabulous brands that will be super helpful that I just wouldn’t be able to afford to add into the gifting process.
Before starting on this journey I had no idea either at how many deep feelings I would be stirring up. Last week I ventured over to the area where I lived in the Refuge and got to meet up with the Women’s Aid workers that are there supporting vulnerable women and children and I had the most wonderful blast from the past moment. A lady who supported me 16 years ago is still there supporting others and I had the most immense pleasure of getting to chat with her and her colleague about life now, the work they are doing and how I hope to support them longer term.
I drove home from the meeting in tears.
I felt humbled, proud, drained, elated and most of all happy.
My life is so different now compared to that vulnerable, scared, damaged little girl that I was at 21 years old.
So on with the giving …
From me today was a range of toddler pasta meals that Jacob loves. These are our go to quick fix tea time meals when life is chaotic so know they will go down well with any little ones there.
Makeup gifts were in order today along with some nail varnish sets that I hope will go down well.
A V-Tech Trike we viewed a while back HERE.
Secondhand is something that some refuges are thrilled with. Many families arrive with nothing and have to not only replace the household items ready for their new start in a new home later down the line but they also need to replace toys that they may have left behind too for their children so good quality second hand toys maybe really needed.
Because refuges have limited storage options you can phone your local refuge and enquire with what them directly if they have room for anything second hand HERE.
Today I gave a couple of boxes of Ritz biscuits and a couple of large packets of peanuts.
Furniture is another thing that is not the normal thing to give. However I contacted the refuge first and asked if they could make use of it for any family on the verge of moving out and they have a family moving in a few weeks so they have agreed to accept this too.
The Biggest Of Thanks
Over the last 5 days there have been tears and emotions oozing out of me with such amazing brands and companies supporting us.
The biggest of thanks goes to those amazing brands and companies that have gone out and provided the Women’s Aid Refuge with products from their own pockets too.
The first thanks goes to the beautiful Hannah from Budding Smiles. I have met Hannah numerous times at blogging events. Hannah has been not only been writing on her blog, working full time at a company and having her 2 wonderful children to take car of. She has also been setting up the most wonderful little boutique shop, Apples & Pips.
Apples & Pips make lives easier when shopping for pregnancy items, baby items and even toddler products by stocking quality luxury items that come at reasonable prices and yet guarantee that they do the job they are designed for.
Even being a very new company Hannah very very kindly donated the most beautiful Mama Designs baby blanket which is truly beautiful and I know will be more than gratefully received by a mum and baby while in the Refuge.
(Thank you beautiful you are one in a million Hannah!)
My Second thanks today goes out to my friends at BabyStyle who continue to blow me aways with some amazing brands and products. I had the pleasure of reviewing their BabyStyle Hybrid this time last year when it first launched and have continued to review products for them like the Zero Pushchair and even recently the Oyster Atom pushchair.
Knowing that some women arrive with their children and no belongings at all, including some times pushchairs or other baby essentials they have very kindly donated an Oyster Atom to the cause too and having reviewed this lovely pushchair I know whoever gets this item will be so made up with receiving such a quality product.
The Oyster Atom retails at £199.
The final big fat thank you for days 16-20 is for a super new product that I wish to goodness we had when all my kids were newborn tots …. Rocket from Rocket Rocker which is helping tired arms all over the place.
This ingenious product attaches to the side of the pushchair and through the vibrations it mimics the action of the pushchair being pushed.
Honestly rocking a pushchair to keep my babies asleep was a nightmare so this to me would have been an utter godsend.
The rocket retails at £39.99
There really isn’t enough thank you’s I can give to show you how much I appreciate your support but I honestly love you all.
