I have been immensely lucky with my 7 months old, after the initial 6 weeks after his birth he decided he really liked to sleep at night which was a good thing as I was struggling with sleep deprivation massively at the time
However I digress.
Sleep … for the last 6 years I have struggled with and having an over stretched pelvis and constant pain at night sleeping really has been a battle of epic proportions.
The last 5 months have been harder still, for some reason my mattress has started failing and that has had an even bigger impact on my sleep quality.
But how important is it really to get good quality sleep?
Well, the simple answer is… Very!
Sleep is incredibly important not only for mental well-being but also it helps you keep physically healthy, ongoing sleep deprivation has been linked to increased risk of heart disease, high blood pressure, diabetes and stroke.
Obviously during sleep we also allow our bodies to heal and repair and if you are not sleeping that is not going to happen!
I for one need to make sure my sleep is of far better quality and more of it as I am mentally struggling like never before with my stress levels high and my attention span and concentration levels almost on the floor and productivity is almost non-existent.
A few months ago I wrote a post, 5 Ways For New Parents To Get More Sleep and it seems the sleep faeries have answered my prayers, you see I know what I need to do to improve my sleep but had yet to get round to doing anything about it, after all as my productivity level were on the floor so it would come as no surprise that making the changes needed would have probably have taken me another 12 months to sort.
One of the recommendations on how to get more sleep was to make sure we had a quality mattress and for 2 years been complaining about ours we are in the midst of trying out sleeping on a quality mattress from Eve.
After doing some research I was initially really excited as EVE only have one mattress as they believe that the quality and build of their one and only is second to none.
So watch this space folks, I am hoping my brain fogged tired sleep deprived head will finally have found a mattress that can keep up with pain and support me properly to allow this shell of a person to finally get some sleep!
Watch out for a full review coming soon …. I wonder if I will get more sleep?
