This year has been a fairly hard one for us with operations, uncertainty about so many things, a car accident and generally feeling the strain of being a working family and balancing childcare with working.
During the festive period I have taken stock of where we are as a family and were I am in myself. I have not been kind on myself but acknowledging I was struggling has helped and I am now celebrating being able to help others with my Women’s Aid Reverse Advent that I started this year.
I was sent an infographic this week from Slater and Gordon Lawyers that really resonated with me about liking your local area. They polled people about where they lived and a wonderful amount (75%) said they liked their local area. Obviously this is great to hear as there is nothing worse than living somewhere you dislike, for me I would hate to be living in a city, I am a country girl at heart.
Our village is a lovely village, it on the whole suffers with an over exactable local planning department that is steadfastly refusing to stop building but on the whole the village is lovely.
I am one of the really lucky 22% of people that said they loved the views. Well, our village is surrounded by fields and forests and there is an abundance of greenery which makes my heart happy which is why I cant envisage living anywhere else.
We have the most amazingly inclusive Beavers group that Joshua has just thrived at. It’s the first of the after school activities that we have left him and go back and fetch him at the end and his confidence comes on in leaps and bounds each week and the Beaver Leaders are fabulous with the troop.
I also know we are immensely lucky to have a spot in the local primary school for Joshua too as the school do so many extra curricular things with the kids from coffee mornings each week to off site school sports clubs and most of the extra things have been done by the teachers and staff for love not money.
There are days don’t get me wrong where I would think about maybe living somewhere else but it’s certainly only a fleeting thought as I know we are lucky to have such an inclusive and proactive village community that I think we are lucky to be a part of.
