How To Be Less Stressed The Oliver\\\'s MadhouseBeing stressed can have a major detrimental effect on our lives. It makes us unwell and causes strokes, heart problems, ulcers, and high blood pressure. It makes our relationships more difficult. It makes us feel miserable and can even lead to mental health issues such as depression. Therefore, becoming less stressed whenever possible is something we should all try. Here are some ideas that might help you.

Fix Your Finances

One of the main things that people worry and stress about is their finances. They might be in serious debt or simply not have enough money to do everything they want to. If your finances are what is troubling you and causing you untold amounts of stress, then it’s time to look at them and come up with a solution. Firstly, take a good look at exactly what the problem is because you won’t be able to fix it until you know. Then come up with a solution. This might be short-term, such as getting another job to pay off your debts more quickly, or long-term, such as an investment including property so that your future is more secure. Do what needs to be done to reduce your stress levels. Remember, you might think your finances are messy when actually they are in good shape, and you just need to rearrange things. It’s always worth checking to make sure; look at a car finance calculator, and you’ll see what options are available; it might be better than you think.

Get A Massage

In order to be less stressed, you need to be more relaxed, and a massage is one of the best ways to do this. Ideally, the massage should be carried out by a professional to ensure that no damage is done. Massages work to relax you by loosening the muscles and reducing the amount of cortisol in your body. Cortisol is a hormone – commonly known as the ‘stress hormone’ – that encourages the ‘fight or flight’ response. This is a good thing in some situations, but if it is permanent, then it can cause health problems. Lowering your cortisol levels will ensure you feel a lot less stressed and will keep you healthier too.

Meditation

With so much going on in everyone’s lives, it can be hard to find any time just for yourself to take stock and calm down. Meditation gives you that time, and the wonderful thing about it is that it only takes a few minutes to work. It can be difficult to get started as it involves you entirely emptying your mind and totally relaxing. However, with practice, this can be an extremely effective way to relax and become less stressed. You can meditate before bed or just as you get up, or you can meditate on the train or bus. You can meditate during your lunch hour. Do whatever you need to do to reduce your stress, and you will feel better for it.

Exercise

Exercise is a great way to reduce stress. Not only will it keep you fitter and healthier, but it will help you to focus not on what was troubling you, but on the task at hand. Simply not thinking about whatever it is that is causing you stress, even for a short while, can help considerably. When you think about the issue again, it can often seem like less of a problem, and a solution can more easily be found. Exercise also increases the amount of serotonin in the body, a hormone that reduces cortisol (as mentioned above).
