Life Lately; My December 2022

Life Lately; My December 2022 The Oliver\\\'s MadhouseThis year has totally flown by and December has been no exception.

Since July and starting my new role I have been consumed with doing the best job I can. All while trying to rebalance work and home life.

Finally, as the year draws to an end I am at peace with my past, at peace with the past year and I am eager to start next year with so many new exciting things in the pipeline.

So what have we been up to this month…

Christmas Jumpers

First off is the wearing of Christmas jumpers. I have been allowed to wear Christmas jumpers every day at work and I have been in my element … I LOVE Christmas

Festive Christmas Markets

This year I have been super lucky to visit 2 Christmas markets. The first one is in the idyllic town of Bakewell in Derbyshire. A few weeks back Ollie the kids and I headed over early one Sunday morning to visit Bakewell Christmas Market and soak up the Christmassy atmosphere.

We were sure glad we did.

Even though the market was super busy it was really well laid out and there were so many little stalls and even the shops themselves.

It will certainly be on the must-visit list for next year … the cheeses there were amazing.

The second Christmas market was a day trip out with some of my new work colleagues and we had a blast. We travelled down in cars to Lincoln and jumped on the park-and-ride bus.

I had never been to Lincoln before but I would certainly go back. The boutique shops and the Christmas market combined made for a really fantastic day out.

We shopped, laughed and ate some amazing food. I even managed to try my first-ever turkey dinner Yorkshire pudding wrap!

Works Christmas Do

This year I got to go on a formal Christmas do! I was super excited to get asked to go and was really looking forward to it. Although a week before we had a mad panic venue swap as the place we had booked closed down and we were left meal less. Thankfully my boss got on the case and managed to book us another table for food.

So we headed for food and then 4 of us decided to stay out. Now noramlly these days i gt to 10pm and i am heading to bed but instead we stayed out till about 3am! .. I wont be repeating that time any time soon but I did enjoy being part of the team and I did enjoy their company!

The Nativity

This year Jacob got to finally be in a proper nativity performance and I am thrilled to say I got to watch.

Ollie and I headed to our local church to watch Jacob take to the stage and say his one line … although secretly he had told me he wished the teacher had given him more lines!

Jacob was by far the most amazing Wise man I have seen. He loved his cape but wasnt keen on his hat.

I honeslty have never been prouder of him. This year has been super hard for him so to see him in happy and still being so eager and bubbly was priceless.

Christmas Circus

OK, normally folks dont think of a circus as festive but for the last 3-4 years we have had the gratest pleasure of attending the Christmas Circus.

A local garden cernter every December raises the big top on a field and allows us to come and spend the afternoon watching a christmas circus and this year was no different.

The boys and I loved it and we had the pleasure of going with one of my friends and her beautiful daughter too. All making for a lovely afternoon and one I will be looking forward to next year.

So this monrth, I have over eaten, I have stayed out late, I have danced, I have sung, I have wrapped, tagged and delivered gifts, I have made plans for the coming year and I have enjoyed every part of my journey this year and I have enjoyed December.

I hope your festive month has been just as exciting as mine!
