Organising My Family Life .. And My Home

Organising My Family Life .. And My Home The Oliver\\\'s MadhouseIf you have been around here a while you will know that for the last year, I have been spending time reorganising my life. Changing career path, bettering myself with a better job and work-life balance.

Taking time to cook real food and batch cook so I am eating healthy nutritious meals every single day for the first time in many years.

Mentally I am in a much better space and the knock-on effect has been that I am losing weight without trying and I am feeling like I can now breathe mentally and physically.

With life this year being so positive I am about to tackle our house. I moved into this house 13 years ago and it has been the most amazing place to bring my two boys home from the hospital as babies and watch them grow. But the house is now tired and needs work. However financially we were hit hard by COVID and lockdowns so the pot is bare.

However, if truth be told my heart is no longer in this house. My husband and I bought this house from my parents nearly 4 years ago after renting it from them for a long time. We never got to ‘choose’ our home in the conventional way most couples do. This was my rescue house after domestic violence and one I will forever be grateful for and the life that has grown from with my husband arriving a little while later after I moved in here and then my boys following suit..

Now, however, I would love to move. I would like to declutter and plan and pack our belongings up and make a fresh start.

My parents a few years back sold up their home locally to me and hot-footed it to a new adventure by the sea and have made their own lives and I know my husband and I would like nothing more than to load up our belongings into a truck and put them into Now Storage and then go and find a new area to live.

It is highly doubtful now that the area in which we will live would be miles away from where we are now with Joshua now in secondary school and both boys having full and active social lives in the area and both Ollie and I now working locally too. But it would be amazing to view houses and pick one together.

We have been incredibly lucky to have our own home and very lucky to live in a nice area but after 13 years this is the longest I have ever lived in one house. My childhood home was around 12-13 years so this is a record and I am feeling the need for change.

For now, I think we need to plan for a massive decluttering session and we need to reorganise our belonging to see if that helps to feel the love of this space again.
