Our Plans For A Family Friendly Bonfire Night At Home

OK, odd title I guess since for many people fireworks are a major part of the bonfire night celebrations. However for me I have a love hate relationship with fireworks. 

Where we live it seems that almost every street in the village has at least 5 houses that carry out a party at home so fireworks are in abundance, which can be immensely frustrating but for this year I am going to use this to our advantage. 

Since the 5th is actually a Monday and I am at work and Joshua has Beavers I am planning ours on the Saturday the 3rd and I have no doubts whatsoever that at least half of the fireworks displays and parties will be carried out on the Saturday so we can watch everyone elses displays in the comfort of our own home. 

So with the kids at home on the Saturday afternoon/evening we are going to set up our own family party and we can even make our own DIY Guy Fawkes after reading this lovely post explaining how we can make it. 

However with most of the late afternoon and evening being in darkness or close to I think glow in the dark games are a fantastic idea for the boys and with one of my boys being a toddler this will be a great thing to plan to keep him happy, especially glow in the dark skittles.

I have camping chairs ready to put up around our garden fire pit and have just purchased some solar garden lights for the apple tree in the garden along with some sparklers for the kids. 

Menu wise I have been collecting ideas on Pinterest and am planning some fine and funky party style foods that we can grab and hang out in the garden with and if you looking for ideas you can find some on my Pinterst board below: 

I am so looking forward to not having the hustle and bustle of a massively busy commercial event queuing for the toilets and the car park. 

This way round we can save ourselves some money, enjoy the space and the free fireworks and be a family with less stress.
