Planning The 5th Birthday

Planning The 5th Birthday The Oliver\\\'s MadhouseWell, thats it my youngest child is approaching 5 in early February and I am honestly blown away at how quickly that seems to have come around. It only feels like yesterday when Jacob was born.

He started reception class at School last September and hasn’t looked back. He seems to be chasing his brother with everything he does. He idolises Joshua. And honestly loves nothing more than doing everything his brother does, but louder and bigger.

From the moment he was born he had a big character. It was like he had been on this planet before and had returned to only do the things he wanted. And to do those in a bigger and better way than he could have possibly done previously.

Last year for Jacobs birthday we managed to have a party with 10 of his friends in a soft play locally. It was just over a month before we were lockdown.

This year I have no doubt he will be having a lockdown birthday and that will mean all 4 of us will have had a lockdown birthday each.

For Joshua’s he took it in his stride with the promise of meeting up and taking some friends out when all this is over. Obviously we have yet to do this as it couldn’t be done safely. He wanted a certain foods which we managed and his requested birthday gift we managed to get.

Birthday’s for Ollie and I were smaller events that involved cakes and takeaways and if I am honest I am just pleased we managed to spend our days together.

Jacob’s 5th Birthday Plans

So with only a few weeks to spare Ollie and I asked Jacob what he wanted to do for his birthday and thankfully his request has been fairly simple:

He wants a Star Wars cake, McDonalds for lunch and then for tea he wants pizzas on the dining table set out like a buffet. Along with towers of doughnuts! Yes thats right my kid has set his whole birthday around what he is eating and when .. I am not sure if I need to be scared or proud!

For entertainment he has requested to play musical chairs, pass the parcel, and musical statues and to jump in mud.

All of which I am anxious about… When Jacob says jumping in mud me means practically rolling in it.

When music is played the 3 men folk in my house seem to find the most peculiar sense of rhythm. It is somewhat disjointed and looks painful but they seem to like doing it.

So for now I need to plan on making a start on the birthday cake this week at some point. I have news paper, tatty prizes for the pass the parcel ready to be wrapped and
