I love holidaying in the UK, don’t you? There is something so charming about the countries that make up the United Kingdom and what they have to offer. I’ve stayed in a few places around the UK with my family in recent years so thought it was time to share the places I consider the best family friendly UK holiday destinations.
When it comes to UK family breaks, I always look for a good quality place to stay in an area that has plenty to offer both children and adults alike. Here are the places I definitely think you should check out if choosing to holiday in the UK:
Yorkshire
There is so much to see and do in Yorkshire – so many fabulous seaside towns with their own quaint offerings and an amazing, fascinating city in York. I’ve visited many places in Yorkshire, including Whitby where I eloped to marry and I always love it.
Derbyshire
Derbyshire isn’t somewhere I would necessarily have considered as a go to holiday destination but when it comes to family friendly things to do, there is plenty – especially Dovedale. In fact, my husband raved about Ashbourne in Derbyshire – particularly the Dovedale stepping stones. We finally managed to make it there whilst on a camping trip and it was fab – I’d love the chance to explore Derbyshire more.
Norfolk
I can’t choose just one place in Norfolk as there are so many fantastic places to holiday in the county. You can visit the tourist hotspot that is Great Yarmouth or head to Cromer to try out their famous crabs. You can even hop into Suffolk whilst holidaying in Norfolk to enjoy a day at Pleasurewood Hills.
Blackpool
Once upon a time I would have been quite dubious about Blackpool as a family friendly destination but after visiting myself, I am not ashamed to admit that I was wrong. Whilst the most popular time of year to visit is to see the Illuminations, it is still a great destination all year round.
Suffolk
I mentioned hopping across from Norfolk to Suffolk to enjoy a day at Pleasurewood Hills but there is so much more to do in the county – I even wrote a post about the best kid friendly things to do in Suffolk. Africa Alive is another great place – so many African creatures to see up close.
Another couple of places we enjoyed was Framlingham Castle and the Southwold Mystery Treasure Trail – so much fun for the whole family!
These are my top family friendly UK holiday destinations – where would you suggest?
