War Of The Roses & Mediaeval Glamping At Warwick Castle

If you have been a regular reader round here for a while you will know that we had the pleasure of visiting Warwick Castle for the first time last year when we stayed over in one of their Mediaeval Lodges. 

This year we have been really lucky to have been invited by Warwick Castle to try out their Mediaeval Clamping tents. Being lovers of camping and loving Warwick Castle we jumped at the chance to visit and stay overnight. 

The Knight’s village is located on the ground of the picturesque castle and with dedicated parking for those staying over it makes for a really easy start to the visit. 

Staying overnight means that we had access to the castle for both the day of arrival and the day after and were given a gate code to get through to the castle with ease and no queuing up! 

We arrived before lunch and found that our ‘Kings Luxury Tent’ was ready and waiting for us! So we headed off in each of the ‘Avenue Of Kings’ and our glamping tent for the night.

The Avenue Of Kings was located on the river front and with most of the tents facing the river directly the views were amazing. We unlocked out tent (they are secured with padlocks) and were blown away by the inside! The interiors had been well thought through, with a four poster with heavyweight curtains in the centre there were beds for the kids on either side, along with a full size mirror, fully made up bed and clean towels for us all. There were also 2 plug sockets and lights in the tent. 

The toilet block and shower block were literally just a minute away and for ‘portaloo style units they were quite luxurious, although if all the tent bases were to be erected and occupied I would hope there would be more facilities on site as the 3 womens loo’s, and 1 mens loo and 2 urinals wouldn’t be able to cope. However with the 6-7 tents on the Avenue of Kings the facilities worked well and were clean.  

The kids loved the freedom that only ‘camping’ or ‘glamping’ gives with fresh air, room to roam and who doesn’t love living like a king! 

Inside the tent the 2 plug sockets were amazing to have to charge phones and the like and with a full length mirror and lighting it was easy to get ready morning or evening and with the super comfy beds and heavy weight snuggley extra blankets on top of the duvets it was a lovely cosy experience even at 3am when the weather dropped cold. 

While at Warwick Castle we were lucky enough to catch one of the free shows ‘War of The Roses‘ which was great! we chose the White Rose and Joshua loved the foam fingers you can buy and was dancing and chanting like a pro. 

The show was on twice a day but the first one of the day was so busy we decided to wait for the second one to get a better view and we were glad we did as we got right to the front and had plenty of space. 

There are so many other things to do there like Knight school for Joshua who learnt how to fight like a knight (£5 per session) and with the free birds of prey shows and the castle and grounds to explore it made for such a lovely family weekend and can’t thank Warwick Castle for allowing us to come and visit and try out the glamping tents and get some much needed family.
