It has been a well documented fact that I am not the most talented horticulturalist going and in fact I have probably nurtured killed off more plant stock than my local garden centre sells in a year over my lifetime as a gardener.
Needless to say I have continued to keep trying and this year It seems I have finally succeeded in not only having some pretty spectacular blooms but I have had all but one appear from the last 2 years plantings. Which for my notoriously bad gardening skills is a success of the highest order!!
This year my garden is now what most I think most people would be called officially established but for me I am still nervous! I would love for this time to be about cultivating what I have instead of go on the full replace mission each year.
I am lazy and love plants, flowers and shrubs that are every year bloomers and that I can plant and almost forget about .. although last year proved my epic rubbishness as I lost 3 plants to dehydration … yes I really was that bad!!
So there you have it, my bloomingly beautiful garden …
It seems my garden was not plotting against me all this time, it was my appallingly crap attitude to my poor plants … can I be arrested for it? gosh it doesn’t bare thinking about, those poor mud clad, rooted souls!
I have to say that since I have developed, shall we say an understanding of my garden, it seems my little guy is loving it just as much too .. although he is not quite so handy at the weeding or planting he makes for a mean waterer! … so no more dehydrated plants for us along with the fact he loves it means I love it all the more too!

I much prefer plants that will last all year and just live forever or ones that flower each year. I am not one for buying and planting new plants every year! x

I’m a rubbish gardener too but it doesn’t stop me trying (and failing, frequently!) love the blooms and go you 🙂

Gosh I am awful at tending to plants/gardens. I do fully intend to look after one when we have our next place, hopefully the green fingers will come in then.

Gorgeous flowers and colour. I’m like you. We have magical wild cloves that sprout up without fail, and a trailing rose shrubby thing that seems to do well with no watering or attention. The geraniums appear each year from my in laws, which we then plant, and I manage (largely) to water. Then last year I planted some easy children’s seeds in our wall. Random mix that looked great, and with no effort they appeared again this year. That’s what I like. So I definitely need to find some plants to put in place of the geraniums which as far as I’m concerned are too much effort having to dig them up for winter.
We have nightmare soil though – really clay soil, that then gets waterlogged Autumn through Spring as it gets the run off from the hill behind, and then obviously really dry at the moment. Digging it is horrendous so need some brute force and muscle from the OH to actually dig holes in it. Maybe next year I’ll make more of an effort…or likely not. If I won the lottery I’d be getting someone in to landscape the garden (well, dig a border, start a veg raised bed and sort out our geranium patch). Oh and find some way to put in a garden tap over our side of the house, as they didn’t plan it well and the outside tap is in the lodger’s part of the garden.
oh no what a nightmare to have that awful clay soil its such hard work.

I’d say that is definitely a success, I am such a terrible gardener too! We’ve managed to get a bit further this year so I’m hoping next year it will look as good as yours, I just love to have so much colour in the garden! #countrykids

I think you’ve done an amazing job. You should see (no you shouldn’t) the state of my garden – and I was proud I managed to grow some flowers in a hanging basket. LOL the train does come straight here you know ;o)

Your garden looks pretty blooming to me! If that’s what a failing horticulturist looks like then Alan Titchmarsh is in trouble! I’m a hopeless waterer too…we currently also have no garden tap so watering requires additional hurdle of posting the hosepipe through the bathroom window!

I only started mine in February (ish) this year, so its a rather young garden. But the bulbs I planted are all beginning to bloom now and it looks beautiful.

Well it looks to me like you are already well on your way to greatness! Which reminds me I haven’t watered the tomatoes, which is almost the only thing living in ours at the moment :(( Off I go!
