Lets face it weaning our offspring is a messy business.
Food tends to cover every inch of our kitchen and over the last few months allowing Jacob to self feed has been nothing if not a nightmare. Bowls don’t sit still and Jacob takes great delight in seeing his dishes clatter to the floor.
I fear we have singlehandedly kept the anti bac floor wipes companies in business and If I am honest I dreaded mealtimes just for the clear up mission that was needed.
However recently we were introduced to a new product for us, rated no.1 on Amazon, EasyMat is a kids silicon FDA approved placemat and divided suction plate-in-one with a spoon. It basically is designed to stick to the table and allow baby to learn to eat food from its separate compartments without allowing baby to throw it around.
If I am honest I was looking forward to trialling it but held not too much hope that it would stay put.
I was wrong.
The EasyMat has suction cups on all 4 corners giving it lots of extra suction all over, however its worth noting that the table or highchair need to be smooth for it to adhere to properly.
For us on our dining table it sat and stayed really well even with Jacob trying his best to rip it off!
The original EasyMat is rather large so works well if your little person is using the dining table or has a large highchair tray. However if your highchair has a smaller tray don’t worry as they have a Mini EasyMat that comes with a tray cover that is ideal for taking with you out and about.
For me I loved how easy it was to wash and nothing has stained it so far, which I must admit tends to happen with baby weaning products. Although 2 weeks in we are still in original condition so I don’t think anything will stain it since we have thrown a lot of orange baby foods at it so far.
I also loved how the mats were low profile making it much easier for Jacob to get to the food. Many other products sit very proudly and it can be hard for him to get his spoon in and out over the sides so this was nice to see how easily he could get to his food.
