It seems we never get time to relax at home nowadays – there is always something that we need to do which prevents us from taking some time out for ourselves. The past few years have been tough on all of us but it has also made a lot of us realise how little time we actually take for ourselves without having to think about anyone else. It shocked me when I realised just how little time I actually got on my own – no job, no kids, even no husband to distract me – it was very minimal at best!
Because of this, I wanted to share with you three of my tried and tested ways to relax at home – and all things you can do yourself (with no distractions!).
A Long Soak In The Bath
I love a soak in the bath – whilst a shower is super quick and functional, nothing quite beats the feeling of stepping into a warm bubble bath. I find the best time to jump in the bath with no distractions is when the kids have gone to bed so there is less chance of them barging in on me – and much less chance of someone desperately needing to use the toilet. I can always guarantee someone needs the toilet as soon as I have got in it otherwise!
A Good Old Pamper
After a long soak in the bath, you are definitely deserving of a good old pamper. Get all of your skincare out, pop on a face mask and do a deep cleansing routine on your face – you will feel so good for it. Why not give your hands some TLC too and give yourself a manicure and a pedicure? Then you can pop on a foot mask and get into your fluffy socks and chill out on the sofa in front of some of your favourite television shows.
Nothing beats a good old pamper and it is a really good way of releasing some stress and chilling out for once.
Indulge In A Good Book
Now I know not everyone likes to read – but have you ever tried an audiobook? Many people I know who hate reading books love listening to audiobooks. Whether you love looking at the written word or listening to someone tell you a story, a good book is a great way to relax and to escape into another world for a little while. I love listening to an audiobook as I can close my eyes and really imagine I am in their world.
There are so many different genres out there and there are some really easy going, easy to listen to books out there that are perfect for relaxing and just letting the narrator’s voice soothe you.
These are just a few of the ways I like to take time and relax at home. I don’t get much time to relax – does any parent? – but when I do, I want to make sure that time counts and aren’t interrupted at any cost. What things do you do?
