Just over a week ago Joshua turned 5 and since we were all off together as a family we decided to finally take Joshua to Robin Hoods Wheelgate Park in Nottinghamshire as part of his birthday treat and since Joshua and I have been before we knew we were in for a real treat and couldn’t wait to take Ollie (hubs) to see it too.
I have lots of friends that have annual passes to Wheelgate and so why we had not thought of doing that before I don’t know as we are practically on its doorstep!
Thankfully the weather held for a few hours so we could start exploring and before we even got in the gate we found a new friend!
First we headed into the first play barn and Daddy’s first go on a ride … sitting on the sidelines with Jacob I have to say I rolled with laughter at my poor husbands face, I am not sure for whose benefit he was holding on tight to Joshua’s leg since Joshua seemed to be enjoying it … However even though I laughed at him he certainly out beat me as I refused to be thrown up in the air and back down.

Since we were lucky enough to have a few hours of sunshine we walked round to the farm animals but got sidetracked looking at some feathered friends, which we all love to see.

My husband had a thing for birds and birds of prey and over the years his love for them has rubbed off on us all.

Joshua and I thought we had covered most of the theme park before but it seems we missed a vital part .. the adult course … after Joshua’s love of Ninja Warrior UK on the TV he was totally in love with this part of the park and bribery was used to get him off it!

We decided that after such a wonderful visit to Wheelgate this year we are going to invest in their annual pass scheme as there really is so much to do here even in the rain as it has 2 enormous play barns that will keep any cheeky monkey busy!

Not to mention their splash pool that is utterly amazing for the warmer months!
We did in the end have to cut our visit off a little shorter than planned as Jacob was under the weather and the rain didn’t hold off all day but we are certainly going to go back and next time we won’t be waiting for Joshua’s birthday to do it.
We love it Wheelgate, we have had annual passes for a few years now. sadly that water in the splash pool is ever warm, even on the hottest days, its freezing.
oh wow i will watch out for that then! .. its not even deep is it?! lol annual passes certainly sound like the way to go for us then x
yeah they are, prices have jumped up a lot this year though. if they didn’t tell you, they have got 18months for price of 12, only available at the gate though, they advertised it on their facebook pages. you should check out the sister park too, Twinlakes.
This is such a great place. We’ve been here twice when we’ve been down and loved it. So much to do and a great price xx
