A Final Summer Jaunt To The Coast

A Final Summer Jaunt To The Coast The Oliver\\\'s MadhouseThis summer holiday seems to have gone so quickly in one sense and so slowly in another.

It’s been a really hard one. I have worked practically full time with at least one of the kids in tow and on some days both.

I have probably run around looking like a bit of a headless chicken I know I have certainly felt like it but with little childcare on offer for my eldest my poor mum pretty much had stepped in daily for the first 2 weeks offering cover for my to at least carry out my nail and beauty client appointments!

After a week camping in North Wales midway through the holidays life and work stepped up a gear and got even busier for us all.

A Final Summer Jaunt To The Coast The Oliver\\\'s MadhouseWith the last weekend of the holidays approaching and the last weekend before my next hospital procedure we decided to make the weekend a family weekend and headed off to our much loved seaside town, Whitby on the Yorkshire coast for a day.

Ollie and I have many childhood memories of Whitby, both visiting many many times as children. Then 9 years ago when we got together we fell in love with it as adults and have had many weeks, weekends and day trips there ever since. Including when we eloped and married there 7 years ago.

After an early start we headed into Whitby fully aware that we weren’t going to get scorching weather but to be honest we didn’t want it to be too hot.

A Final Summer Jaunt To The Coast The Oliver\\\'s MadhouseWe headed to arcades with the kids and were successful in our 2p machine and won a Monopoly style car money box. Joshua and I have become tag team experts and work together to win. Jacob on the other hand has a style all of his own. It normally involves wondering around putting in 20p’s worth of 2p’s and then finding somewhere else.

A Final Summer Jaunt To The Coast The Oliver\\\'s MadhouseWith rain threatening we headed for an ice cream which of course had to be a Mr Whippy 99. The boys managed to wangle a little ride time too on the little rides near the battery cafe. We actually managed to get some dog time in too as the ride owners beautiful dogs came for a fuss too.

A Final Summer Jaunt To The Coast The Oliver\\\'s MadhouseBeing so close to the beach it would have been rude not to get a little stroll in. We hadn’t planned on spending much time on the beach and the rain was threatening so we didn’t stay long but enough to let the boys have a run.

A Final Summer Jaunt To The Coast The Oliver\\\'s MadhouseObviously no trip to the seaside would be complete without fish and chips and our favourite fish and chip shop is Hadley’s so it was nice to get some proper fish and chips as fish and chips at home never taste as good as while your by the sea!

A Final Summer Jaunt To The Coast The Oliver\\\'s MadhouseWhitby is a long long drive for us but I have to say I am so pleased we made the trip. I needed some smiles and laughter to take away my anxity over my upcoming hospital procedure.
