London
One of the best cities to see in the UK has to be London. The capital of England and an extremely well known location, there is so much to see and do here that you really are spoilt for choice. Edinburgh

You have the old town with its medieval influence to enjoy as well as the more modern Georgian style of the new town filled with beautiful architecture and gardens.
You can take in the sights of Edinburgh Castle, which is home to Scotland’s Crown Jewels and the Stone of Destiny and you also have Carlton Hill with its monuments and memorials to enjoy. Finally, restaurants and bars are aplenty meaning you will be able to finish off your day in style.
Manchester
Manchester is another iconic city that is definitely worthy of a visit. There are some great museums on offer in the city center, and one in particular, that focuses on the history of Football. There is also the famous Science and Industry museum to explore.
You also have some great shopping in the city, especially when it comes to the high street stores, and the Arndale Center is definitely worthy of a visit. With historical sites, beautiful locations and fabulous dining options, there really is something for everyone here.
Cardiff
Cardiff has been named the capital of Wales since 1955, and it has certainly had a lot of investment around the Cardiff Bay Area, making it a great location to visit. It is a port city, where the River Taff meets the Severn Estuary.
The revamp of The Cardiff Bay Area now houses the Wales Millenium Centre which focuses on the arts and is home to the National Opera, orchestra and plenty of dance and theatre companies. Cardiff is also close by to some of the gorgeous Welsh countryside, so you can definitely take in the best of both worlds in the south of wales.
Anglesey and North Wales
Heading North in Wales will take you to the lovely countryside and coastal towns as well as the island of Anglesey. Anglesey itself has some amazing locations and beaches including Benllech Bay. Anglesey is rugged wit beautiful scenery and plenty of things to do. It is often associated with a caravan holiday and is great for families.
North Wales also has some amazing places to see including Snowdonia, where you can actually get to the summer on a railway, or walk it if you feel brave enough. With seaside resorts including Rhyl, Abergele, and Conway, there really is a lot to keep you occupied and entertained in the area.
Devon and Cornwall
Devon and Cornwall have been an area in the South West of England that has been hugely popular with holidaymakers for many years now. With so many idyllic locations such as St Ives, Newquay, Torquay, Plymouth and Salcombe to name a few.
There are some great locations including Rick Stein’s Seafood restaurants in Padstow, The Eden Project and the Dartmoor National Park where you can see the wild horses in their natural surroundings. It really is so vast that with them being two different areas, you are spoilt for choice as to which one is the best holiday location.
The Kent coast
Another coastal part of the UK in England and one to rival the famous Devon and Cornwall areas would be the Kent coastline. Some say it is the best in the UK. Thanet has some of the most recognised coastal areas include in Margate and Botany Bay, which happens to be one of the most photographed beaches. The Kent coast is also home to other locations including Whitstable. A lot of the locations in Kent have beautiful seaside fronts that include nostalgic piers and gorgeous walks, as well as lots of lovely bars and restaurants.
Nostalgic beach resorts
Finally, what staycation list would be complete without the mention of some of the UK’s most nostalgic seaside resorts. Some that come to mind initially would be the likes of Southport and Blackpool.
Blackpool in particular attracts millions of people each year, especially during the autumn period where the illuminations along the seafront are on full display. Weston Super Mare, Scarborough, and Formby beach are also great locations to consider visiting if you are having some time in the UK, and they can be excellent holidays which feels like a home away from home.
