Dear Joshua, Now You Are 9

Dear Joshua, 

How can you be 9 already?! 

Each year I shout from the rooftops that I can’t believe that the year has gone so quickly and even more so last year but this year it really has flown by. 

As a family we have had an epic amount going off. With extra curricular actives, home life and even as parents our work lives. However there seems to been a massive amount of change in your Joshua this past year. 

You have outgrown that little boy and are flourishing into a lovely young man. You are immensely bright and articulate but for me I can’t tell you how proud I am of seeing your sensitive side still so strong and passionate. You are one of life’s over thinks and this does see you sometimes upset for the slightest thing. However this only goes in your favour as so many people know how kind and caring this side of you is and it shows in how many friends you have. 

Over this last year your relationship with your brother has also flourished. You play now as equals (for the most part) and are eager for him to play. Your brother likes nothing more than getting your to play fight with him over everything and you like nothing more than to do it. 

This last few weeks have probably been the hardest of the year. Being away from school and on lockdown due to the virus it has totally knocked you off balance. Watching you everyday develop your new normal is priceless. You are learning new things about life and about yourself you never knew and its a privilege to watch you and spend time with you.

I know as birthdays go this one is probably going to be a bit pants. Especially when your going to be 9 and won’t see most of your family and you won’t be seeing any of your friends but we thankfully already had your presents here so at least you will be getting those … oh and a made with love birthday cake.
