Discovering More Than Just Football With Match Attax Extra – A Review

Discovering More Than Just Football With Match Attax Extra - A Review The Oliver\\\'s MadhouseA short while ago Joshua turned 6 and his love of football seemed to increase along with his age and he has gone from just wanting to go to his Thursday training session to try to work out the tactics, team players info and even who supports which team.

This is obviously a delightful time for his football mad Dad, for me however I loved how much Joshua obsessed with counting and reading. However who said it had to be one or the other?

I was contacted recently to see if we had heard about the football trading game Topps Match Attax Extra which we actually had after Joshua’s Grandma had bought him his first pack cards a few weeks back when they started in March. So we jumped at the chance to take a more in-depth look at how they worked.

Match Attax works just like a normal game of football in the sense that you need 2 players (player 2 was Daddy in our case) and the starter packs come with the full instructions and playing board and storage folder)

You will need to keep scores on who wins and if you are following the ‘Pro’ rules you will have to also keep a track on your finances as you have a limited 100 million pounds to spend on all player including subs and so trying to work out the budget against the best possible players according to their abilities for attack and defence.

Joshua has thrived on being able to bring his maths to the table and loves to sit and work out the figures behind his teams costs and attack and defence abilities which is great news all around for me.

I personally love how this game is so much more than just ‘collecting’ cards, there are millions of ways to play, by changing the players and tactic cards and by changing the players it opens up a whole new set of games and differing teams depending on what player 2 has collected!
The Match Attax Extra features all the biggest signings from the Premier League and January transfer window including high-profile additions such as Manchester City Striker, Gabriel Jesus and Southampton’s Manolo Gabbiadini. Plus, New Limited Editions and Premier League Legends. Prices start from £1 upwards and the starter packs that include the storage folders is £4.99

Love this idea! Any excuse for a bit of maths. I like the way they’ve taken two popular ideas (football cards and top trumps) and combined the two. Fab idea!

This sounds like a great idea, it takes me back to when my brother and I used to collect Pokemon cards! Haha xx
