I’m sure I am not alone in a house busting at the seams with outgrown baby clothes now Jacob is getting bigger!
In fact I know I can’t be, with a survey carried out by Censuswide in January this year showing that 7.96 million families in the UK with dependent children (Office for National Statistics – Families and Households in the UK: 2016) had at least 23 items of outgrown baby clothing per family (average from survey) = 183 million items of baby clothing in our homes … so, no hiding in the back – I bet if you have children in your household, you can find some outgrown clothing in there too!
With so many outgrown baby clothes loitering in our homes a new campaign, #GiftABundle, calls on us parents to pass on outgrown baby clothes to local families who need them.
I have to say that personally I love the idea of reusing things that get very limited use and for Jacob’s clothing some age ranges he was only in them for 3 weeks and many items were still unworn when he moved up sizes.
So this next 4 weeks why not check your cupboards and drawers for any clothing (0-3 years) that you might still have, and if you find something you no longer need and can find at least 6 items, pop them into one of 13 Mothercare stores across the UK, so they can be beautifully gift-wrapped and distributed to other local families.

Our research found that 93% of parents liked the idea of the baby clothes their children wore going to help a local family in need, so we’re working with each of our participating stores to distribute these precious garments to support other families nearby.”
Last weekend we have dug out some of Jacob’s clothing ready to take to our nearest participating store.
