Early Years: The Benefits of a Pre-Prep School for Your Child

Early Years: The Benefits of a Pre-Prep School for Your Child The Oliver\\\'s MadhouseWhen you first have your child, their schooling is usually the furthest thing from your mind. It’s easy to get caught up in all the excitement of a baby and then the toddler years and continue to push schooling out of your thoughts. As your child gets a bit older, however, it’s natural to start thinking about their future and where you plan on sending them. If you’ve had your eyes on a private school in the West Yorkshire area, then you will also want to consider a private pre prep school in West Yorkshire.

Here we will look at the benefits of sending your child to a pre-prep school.

What is Pre-Prep School?

As the name implies, pre-prep schooling takes place before your child enters prep school. It is meant for kids ages five through seven. The pre-prep school is usually tied to a prep school, which means kids will just move on to the prep school at the age of seven.

An Introduction to the Basis of Learning

Pre-prep schools act as that first introduction to the foundations of learning, which are numeracy and literacy. As a parent, you have most likely introduced both topics to your child and worked on them through the years, but this is a chance for them to learn in a more structured environment with a set curriculum. The goal is to prepare them for prep school so that they can do that much better.

Many parents note the small class sizes as one of the biggest benefits to a pre-prep school. Of course, every school is different, but it’s not unusual to have a class of just 12 or fewer students in it. This means your child will receive plenty of one-on-one teaching time, which obviously will help them to succeed. With a small class, teachers are also more aware of each child’s progress, strengths, and weaknesses. Children aren’t lost in the crowd so to speak.

A Less Demanding Environment Than School

Pre-prep schools also act as a soft introduction to school. For kids who have never gone to day care, school can be somewhat overwhelming. There is a routine, structure, learning, and lots of people to get used to in a short amount of time.

Pre-prep school is not as demanding as school, yet there is still structure, rules, and a curriculum. Kids will be learning, but also taking part in activities, clubs, music classes, arts and crafts, and much more.

Encourages Socialisation Skills

Of course, a pre-prep school also does a great job at encouraging a child’s socialisation skills. Whether the child has been around other groups of kids on a regular basis or not, this is a great way to learn communication skills.

Many Benefits to Be Seen

Pre-prep schools offer all kinds of benefits for kids that will help them to be better prepared for their school years, not just from an educational aspect but also from an emotional standpoint.
