Family Dining At Nando’s Nottingham – After The Revamp

OK, dear readers I am not going to lie we had until last week never visited a Nando’s restaurant and if I am honest I am not sure why we hadn’t as we love Chicken as a family and it features heavily in normal meals.

Recently the Nando’s at Nottingham (on Redfield Way, near the Showcase Cinema) received a massive facelift after being open 10 years at the Showcase Complex and we were thrilled to get the opportunity to visit it last week to see how it fared for family dining and could not have been more excited.

With car parking directly outside including disabled bays the restaurant is super easy to get to and is just off the ring roads round Nottingham and only minutes from the city main hospital, Queens Medical Centre.

We arrived for opening at 11.30am and were pleased the restaurant was quiet for Jacob (aged 23 months) as he tends to get distracted easily. We were shown over to a table and passed menus for us and some menus for the kids including activity sheets and crayons for both boys.

We were in a semi circular booth that worked well for us as the seating the outside was easily moved to accommodate the highchair easily.

Nando’s is an Afro-Portuguese chain restaurant that serves flame-grilled chicken in spicy chilli sauces and taking a look at the menu I can confirm that this style of food is certainly one of our favourites. Ollie prefers red hot foods and I prefer medium foods so being able to choose our food and then choose how hot we want to go with it is fabulous. For the kids we ordered no sauces and plain which went down well with both kids.

The food is ordered at the till (where you can also order takeaway from too) and   delivered to your table. All the chicken at Nando’s is cooked from fresh and never from frozen and is red tractor approved.

Our order was brought over swiftly and midway through our starters the mains were brought over and I have to say I preferred this speedy food delivery. Having Jacob with us when dining means sitting around between courses means temper tantrums so this saved our bacon as he never got chance to be bored.

When our mains had arrived we decided to try out the many flavoured sources on offer and I have to say I was shocked that Joshua (aged 6) loved the X Hot Sauce much to my amazement!

The chicken was delicious and I loved the peri peri salted chips  …. They were AMAZING!

Overall Thoughts
I loved the open plan layout of the restaurant, I loved the laid-back feel of the restaurant and the beautiful one of pieces of art positioned through the restaurant.

The food was delicious, tasty and adaptable even to our younger diners and the options to choose sauces after the fact was great to get our little ones trying new flavours without ruining a meal with them already cooked in the sauces and then them not liking it.

Staff on site were attentive and took us newbie Nando’s lovers by the hand to tell us how to go about ordering and the other options open to us.

We are totally hooked and will be returning, especially to the newly refurbished Nando’s in Nottingham.
