Fish & Chips In The Rain

Fish & Chips In The Rain The Oliver\\\'s MadhouseFish and Chips are one of my most favourite things, although rain is not. On out recent trip to Matlock Bath … We encountered both.

So on finding out Ollie had a Saturday off work (these days it can be a rarity) we decided to jump in the car and go to one of our most loved places locally…. Matlock Bath

After a super rubbish start to the day, Joshua decided that he needed to get in a nap in the car on-route … well after all getting up at 4.45 am and waking everyone else up his nap was no needed!

Fish & Chips In The Rain The Oliver\\\'s MadhouseSo on getting to Matlock Bath it was beautifully grey and decidedly empty, neither of which we had seen before while being here but on smelling the Fish and Chips we continued onwards. We crossed the bridge and watched the over full river pick up pace as it hurtled itself round, it was mesmerising.

So after calling in to a craft fair and Ollie and Joshua falling in love with a Chiweenie and then spending the next 15 minutes reiterating that while he wont pick up poo we will not be having a dog!

After Ollie spotted some fudge to come back and get on the way home we walked on to the fish and chip shop which has unofficially become ours as it’s the one we visit each time we go.

Joshua Chose to sit next to the fish tank, although If I am honest I thought it sad we would be sitting there eating fish all the while being watched by fish! there really was something a tad grim about it! however this did not stop any of us eating them!

Fish & Chips In The Rain The Oliver\\\'s MadhouseOn finishing out Fish and Chips it was not surprising that it was absolutely hurtling it down with rain. So obviously just to shelter from the rain we visited a couple of amusement arcades to play on the 2p machines, because I am addicted to them all in the name of keeping dry obviously.

Then it was time to see if we could spot the ducks although non were seen, and I really couldn’t fault them!

Fudge and cupcakes purchased on the way home, so all in all not a completed fail …and we got some fresh air! win win all round!

I always think that the purchase of fudge is the perfect end to a day out, or Kendal mint cake:)

Isn’t Matlock bath so beautiful. I bet fish and chips in the rain was very yummy and very warming too! I have to stay away from 2p machines else I’ll just keep going till I’ve given them my house! 🙂

Mmmmm…. fudge! I love 2p machines too, although it’s a bit annoying that so many are 10p machines now instead, it is a much more expensive habit these days!

what a small world it is. I live just around the corner in Matlock. My husband works in Matlock Bath at the Balti restaurant. In summer we are down there all the time. Our kids love the 2p machines and the pirate ship at the park. we also go to Gullivers Kingdom too.
