Well, I certainly didn’t expect Jacobs birthday to come round so quickly, however next week Jacob will turn two and even though I am in denial that my youngest child is going to be two we have been organising birthday surprises for the last few weeks.
I am normally a little hesitant to pick present but this year we have some very clear favourite toys in Jacob’s midst. With him now at nursery he has some clear favourites that we have bought for home use too and I have added those into the top picks in this list to help anyone else that is looking to buy for their upcoming two year old.
Jacob discovered his love of Duplo at Christmas and with it coming in a range of box sizes and prices it makes it easily affordable no matter what price your looking to spend. Although its larger in size then Lego for easier manipulation but little fingers .. be warned you will need slippers as if your little ones are like mine they end up all over while searching for that elusive piece.
2. Ridgeback Scoot Balance Bike
Last summer we were really lucky to attend an event with Ridgeback who were full of helpful tips on getting little ones up and on bikes. It was interesting to find out that from 18months you can get your little person up and on a balance bike which will help with gross motor function and confidence with a bike. Jacob has the scoot and it fits his wonderfully now so there will be many days in the garden ahead for us.
3. & 7. Wow Toys
Both of these choices are WOW Toys because they are immense. I discovered the brand many years ago when Joshua was little and my love of it has only grown since. Jacob has been playing with WOW Toys for a number of months now and we love the creativity of them, the price and the fact they have no batteries and yet are packed with features!
4. Ben & Holly’s Elf Rocket Playset
Who doesn’t like Ben and Holly? Well, this play set is super cute and real to life with the characters looking just like the programme. Inside the rocket the little control room is built for little fingers with lights and sounds its a great option for present buying.
5. Vtech 3 in 1 Zebra Scooter
This multifunction toy has 3 interactive modes of play (walker, ride on and scooter and an electronic panel that teaches colours and animals. This super cute scooter is really fun and exciting with so many things to play with.
6. IKEA Play Kitchen
The IKEA play kitchen is one of Jacob’s obsessive toys, his older cousin has one and nursery have one and he adores getting to play with it. Little does he know that we have one ready and waiting for next Monday! I know he is going to be thrilled.
For me I love this version of a wooden kitchen as its basic but still has enough details to make play lots of fun. Its sturdy but still small enough to not take over the room too!
8. Fireman Sam Playset
One of Jacob’s favourite characters of late has been Fireman Sam. Although I love how gender neutral Sam is with so many other interesting characters in the programme.
This lovely playset has been designed for use from age 3 but Jacob has played with this at his friends house and I don’t see why it can’t be used from a younger age with supervision.
The characters are a lovely size and with lots of little accessories it makes for a great first playset.
