I am not sure how or why we end up with so much ‘stuff’ but we do.
I used to take pride in not having so much stuff and in fact I get rather twitchy about clutter. However over the last few months the house clutter has taken over and I can no longer whizz round the house with the vacuum without spending 2 hours moving ‘stuff’
In part a lot of the clutter is currently belonging the boys as Joshua is growing out the little boy toys. And Jacob is growing out of clothes and baby toys at an alarming rate.
Obviously to save some pennies further down the line we are attempting to save lots of Joshua’s outgrown toys and clothing for Jacob … yes son you will be in had me downs. However we will obviously be adding some new to that too.
In order to accommodate Jacobs newest transition from baby to toddler we have had to take a second look at storage in his room and as it’s the smallest room in the house space is at a premium. But then again so is cash.

With both of those in mind I have been selling on the things we no longer need, for example he has grown out of his space saving cot and we had instead purchased a cot bed so we didn’t have to keep buying and could use it with its sides on for now and later as a bed. So in order to recoup some monies I have been selling anything that has not been nailed down including his old cot.
I hate the thought of taking furniture to the tip and with limited funds I can’t always afford to send everything to our local charity shops as they still get a fair amount from me as I walk past every morning on the school run.

Beyond the furniture buying and selling I am then going to move onto the car boot sales to sell the smaller more manageable items and I am already collecting an immense pile to start me off.
However getting to the point of actually removing items from the house is actually the hardest part. What are you going to sell, donate or bin? I have been reading online a comprehensive post on how to declutter and it has some great ideas if you are one of those people that struggles with letting stuff go. If gives you some ideas on different methods and personally i think it offers some great advice.
Please tell me I am not the only one that goes through these phases with far too much clutter and not enough space?
