London Paddington is a great part of the city – have you ever considered visiting before? Here’s a handy guide to where you can stay and what you can visit in the area.
Where To Stay
There are a variety of places you can choose to stay in Paddington but my choice would be the Park Grand London Paddington.
With fantastic transport links and close to Paddington station, this hotel is easily accessible and offer complimentary Wi-Fi and broadband access to all visitors. The rooms are big, spacious, clean and comfortable and the hotel offers delicious food too.
What To Do
Paddington may not be the first place in London that springs to mind when you think of an area to check out so you may be surprised to know just what things there are to do in the area.
Paddington is an area of London which is located between two Royal Parks, Notting Hill and the West End. A simple stroll will lead you to both if you so wish.
Of course, you couldn’t visit the area of Paddington without considering Paddington Bear. They have synonymous since the books were published many years ago. There is a fantastic statue in the train station that you must check out and of course, the dedicated Paddington Bear shop.
There’s even a guided Paddington walking tour and there are often different Paddington trails going on. Perfect if you have young children who love the cuddly bear or even if you yourself love him!
There are some beautiful gardens in the Paddington area. Some are private for residents only, others are open to the public. Be sure to check these out if nature is something you appreciate.
You may not have realised but St Mary’s Hospital is situated in Paddington. This is the hospital where many of the royal babies in recent years have been born. Something I didn’t know is that the Alexander Fleming museum is also there and is a part of the hospital. It is definitely worth checking out. You can see his laboratory and find out more about the man himself and his stories.
If you are a fan of good architecture or sculpture, then it is vital you check out the Fan bridge. The footbridge has a sculptural fan of metal at one end. When the bridge opens, the five beams look like a Japanese fan. It is super cool to see in the flesh.
Leisurely Visit
If you simply want to chill out and grab a bite to eat, then Merchant Square is the place to head to. It is situated next to the floating park and has plenty of space to sit, chat and eat and also has a water maze. The kids have so much fun trying to reach the centre whilst dodging the water shooting upwards.
These are just a few things you can see and do in Paddington but there are plenty more – if you’ve ever visited, what was your favourite place to visit?
