Healthy eating is often the focal point of many new year’s resolutions but it is hard to stick to when people return to their working life.
Maintaining these goals created at the start of the year requires planning and realistic goal setting, otherwise, our bodies will respond negatively to a drastic change resulting in us giving up.
Now that the new year is finally here, we’ve compiled a list of the best ways to ensure you’re not one of the 80% that fails their new year’s diet in 2022.
Work out how much you should eat
This is the only way to work out your new healthy diet and it can be make or break for most as incorrect planning can easily result in burnout.
Many people will simply decide that they are going to change their diet intake without understanding that this will dramatically affect their energy levels and health. Whilst eating healthy is good, many people may fall into the trap of undereating which could lead to more snacking.

Refrigerator full of food
Instead of guessing how much to eat, work out your calorie intake and eat healthily in line with this calorie number. Your body will thank you for it.
Start cooking
Eating out every night will often result in a poor diet. Fast food restaurants or takeaways are renowned for being unhealthy and you may not get all the nutrients you need.
Instead, learn how to cook a healthy balanced meal like a stir-fry which is filled with protein, fat and carbohydrates and you’ll feel much healthier. A great way to create these stir fry’s is by using a wok. Woks are great for mixing all of your healthy ingredients to create a delicious meal with minimal clean up.
What’s more, cooking at home also means you can meal prep your lunches so even if you are out at work, you can eat a healthy meal.
Reward yourself
Don’t go completely cold turkey, it won’t be good for your momentum as you continue to be healthy throughout the year. Even The Rock has cheat days and it’s his job to be ripped all year round so why don’t you deserve a treat every now and again.
These cheat days offer you a chance to get your unhealthy food cravings out of your mind ready for another healthy week so if you manage to eat clean Monday to Saturday then allow yourself to go crazy on Sunday. One day of bad eating will make little change to your body and if it means you eat healthy for the next six days then that’s a big win.
