Jacob At Two Months Old

Jacob At Two Months Old The Oliver\\\'s MadhouseWOW … how can Jacob actually be 2 months old?

I spent the whole pregnancy counting down the months to get our baby in our arms and yet now he is here the time is flying far more than the time did with my previous 2 babies.

This month has been all about routine, routine for Ollie returning to work and routine for me and the kids to try to get it back, although it is slightly different than before Jacob arrived obviously!

I am not someone that functions well without routine and have had several meltdown without it but this week it seems that our night time routine has started to kick in and both Jacob and I are getting much more sleep.

The beginning of this second month started fairly dramatically with projectile vomiting and tears .. Although there were tears from not just Jacob as I was full of them too.

Life seemed to be all about feeding, expressing, crying and puking and it was tough.

Since Jacob had become to fractious to latch on while breastfeeding in the first month I had happily begun expressing breastmilk to give him but unfortunately he started throwing up breastmilk and formula milk in massive quantities and no matter what we did we he puked and then was starving again, it was hard to the point of me crumbling and after the 6 week check it was diagnosed that he was suffering from Reflux.

We turned a corner for just under 2 weeks by adding baby Gaviscon that the Doctor proscribed however he soon became fractious again with some epic constipation and so was advised to change what formula milk we were giving him to Reflux milk, which seemed to work, however I still needed to add Gaviscon into my breastmilk and so he was still suffering.

Just over a week ago I stopped giving Jacob breastmilk and Gaviscon and tried a few days of just the Anti-Reflux milk instead and it was truly like having a different baby, no more screaming, no more scrunching up in pain and no more projectile vomiting … so we made the decision to just use the anti-reflux milk instead and we haven’t looked back.

This month we have also had a special moment in that I saw Jacob’s first smile … it may have been at 3am in the morning but it certainly reduced me to tears … super happy tears!

I can’t wait to see what month 3 has in store for Jacob and us as a family.

He is such a cutie Jaime.
Relax well and truly sucks, Harry had it until around 9 months and I’m with you on the tears. I’m so pleased you’ve found a solution which works best for you all.

Can’t wait to steal a cuddle next month

Reflux is rubbish, both my children had it so I know some of what you must be going through. Glad things have turned a corner. Much love to you all.
