Keeping Warm With The Baxi 600 Combi Boiler & The uSense Thermostat

*Advertorial Feature*

Keeping Warm With The Baxi 600 Combi Boiler & The uSense Thermostat The Oliver\\\'s Madhouse
About 4 years ago we finally managed to get rid of our old ancient back boiler and it made a drastic difference to heating out home but the boiler was never quite right.

It was placed in the old airing cupboard that had originally housed the water tank from the old system and that was located in Joshua’s bedroom. The first day after installation I kicked myself we hadn’t sited it elsewhere. It seemed to be fairly loud at 2am and in the room next door you could hear it chugging through the wall but it did the job.

A while back we were asked to try out a new boiler from Baxi and 4 years after having the chugging boiler installed we were finally going to see the back of it in favour of the Baxi 600. However there was more, we were having their new uSense thermostat installed too.

I am not going to lie, I was excited.

Maybe its just our house but we have had an ongoing heating battle since getting together. I get hot and bothered and turn the heating down at night and Ollie gets up and turns it up. I wait for him to get back in bed from his trip downstairs and nodded off and I traipse downstairs and turn the heating down again. We never found it user friendly enough that we were able to programme it to both our needs so I was excited to get to use the uSense Thermostat.

The uSense thermostat can be used with the uSense app to make it super user friendly meaning you can use it on your smartphone or tablet wherever you are. The app allows you to schedule the heating, adjust it manually and even put it into holiday mode protecting your home when you are away.

The easy to adjust buttons on the thermostat means that if like my husband who is not a fan of apps and technology he can easily navigate around the thermostat manually too meaning it ticks the boxes for both of us.

I love the app and can’t believe I ever lived without it to be honest, being able to see easily the temperature from wherever I am and to be able to adjust it just as easily really is something that makes life a little easier.

It’s been a fair while now since the boiler and uSense has been installed and we have been thrilled with how versatile the thermostat has been for us. With a twist of a dial Ollie is feeling pleased that he can warm the house up quickly, while I am pleased I can keep his dial turning ways in check by adjusting it back onto my pre programmed schedules on my app, seconds after he has turned it up! … And he doesn’t even notice!

I am not even going to pretend to know the ins and outs of the Baxi 600 combi boiler as lets be quite honest I am not a plumber. However, what I do know is, it’s working well for us as a family.

It comes with a 7 year warranty (which I personally think is amazing) it has an easy fill cold water tap (no nightmare keys here) so when the pressure in the boiler needs topping up you literally just press down and it allows the cold water needed to flow in.

There are 2 things that became apparent with this boiler than with our previous one. Firstly it doesn’t seem to be constantly working hard to achieve the heat required and secondly it is super quiet and we can no longer hear it in our bedroom and with the door shut to the airing cupboard we cant hear it in Joshua’s bedroom either where the airing cupboard is situated.

I am really excited to see how cost effective the Baxi 600 boiler turns out to be over the duration of a full year so will be back in a year to let you know just how much it has possibly saved us!
