Early this year I made a Summer Bucket List and on it were several things that not only had Joshua never had a go at, neither had I and one of those things was flying a kite.
I suppose it sounds rather odd that I have never to my knowledge flown a kite but I guess it’s not one of those things that is an everyday occurrence so it had never come up really before now.
When we travelled to Tunisia in June this year we were sat at the edge of the sea when a beach seller walked by and tried to sell us a kite and in that split second both Ollie and I said yes, obviously great minds think alike on this instance as with the gorgeous sunshine and some lovely blowing breeze coming off the sea it was really fantastic kite flying weather or so we thought as we had not shown one before (turns out we were right!)
Joshua initially was not so enthusiastic in fact it almost bordered on panic when he took control, I think he thought it would blow away and it took a while for him to realise that while ever he held it then it wasn’t going anywhere! …. What he did love however was when Daddy took over and was flying it for him! (Mummy wasn’t very good)
As Joshua has got bigger the firsts have really dwindled to few and far between so it was lovely to experience something for the first time with him …. We may not be the best kite flyers … but we do have our kite and now we are waiting for some perfect kite flying weather so we can have another go at the wonder that is flying a kite!
…….. Although we may have to take it into a field … We have way to many trees!

I love watching kites flying, twisting and turning in the sky. We have one in the cupboard that we bought a few years back and still to use.
What a lovely moment! I can’t wait to fly a kite with Evie for the first time. I think daddy might have to do it too though because I don’t think I’d be very good either. I love the idea of having a summer bucket list. It’s such a creative idea and must save on the ‘i’m boreds’. x
The last kite we bought broke the minute we took it out of the bag haha!
Ah how lovely, I don’t think I would be very good at kite flying either xx
What a lovely “first”. I do NOT have great memories of kite flying as my dad got a bit shouty so glad your experience was better!
Yay! looks like fun. I once took my friends children to the park to fly a kite, all was going well until a dog decided to eat the kite when it landed on the floor. Whoops!

ooo I would love a nice beach and a kite right now lol . Lovely pictures jaime x
I love good old fashioned fun like kite flying. There are so many activities that we forget about but the summer months are such a great time to try them out. My son has been teaching his friends to play cards, it’s nice to see them without their electronic devices! Hope you’re having a lovely summer and HUGE congratulations on your pregnancy news. xx
Lovely item to be on a summer bucket list! It’s true what you say–when kids get older the firsts become few and far between. There’s something soothing about kite-flying, isn’t there? And I’m so happy that your boy got to experience it 🙂 Thank you for hosting us this week, Jaime! Hope you’re feeling well. Have a great rest of the week.
There’s something magical about kite flying. We haven’t flown ours for ages so your post has inspired me! Hopefully this week we’ll have somebody good flying weather. #magicmoments
Flying kites is so much fun, it’s been ages since we’ve flown ours! We must get them out again 🙂
Ahh how lovely, I love to watch people fly kites, they always amaze me 🙂

Can’t beat kite flying xx
I think it’s just harder to recognise the firsts as they get older, because we’ve passed the obvious ones. I do a month of firsts round up (my linky is lazy and doesn’t really happen, but the idea was there). It’s great because it makes me think back and realise what we and N have achieved, and it’s surprising how many things that are still firsts.
Kite flying is definitely cool though – we have pocket parafoil kites which are brilliant, but when n’s a little bigger we’ll move on to a stunt one. We’re lucky because it’s really blowy on the farm.
A lovely way to enjoy some outdoor time, we failed with ours this year and gave up after an hour of trying to untangle it at the beach! Well done on getting yours into the air!
Aww so lovely, hubby and the kids were flying one on the beach whilst we were away too. It was such a windy beach when the tide came in that it flew so high, even I was impressed 😉
