Each home, family and person has dealt with things that they would never have had to deal with before it came along.
For us as a family the first big nightmare for us was loosing my main income for 8 months out of the 12. Exquisite Digits & Beauty was my main full time income and one in which I loved. I adored providing nail and beauty treatments to my lovely clients and making them feel, refreshed, relaxed and happy.
Having only been able to earn 4 months money out of the last 12 months. Along with making massive finical investments to be able to reopen my business COVID secure after the first lockdown it has crucified us financially.
We have like many families struggled to put food on the table and pay our bills. At one point we were robbing peter to pay paul each week. It’s been emotionally and mentally draining living even more on the edge than we had before. But we do know that we have not been the only ones effected in this way across the country.
The first lockdown was by far the worst one for the kids. Joshua perticularly suffered with this mental health. He suffered with night terrors and nightmares. He thought he was going to die. Even worse than that he was terrified that every time we left the house for essentials he worried we wouldn’t come back. That is an awful situation for any child to be constantly be worried that his parents are going to die of COVID every time they leave the house.
Jacob thankfully has been a little more laid back about being in lockdown. He missed out on his settling in phase at reception class as school as he had to just start on the first day. He went with the flow and I am so grateful for that.
Out of the last year this third lockdown has been the one that has effected me the worst.
After earning practically nothing I have felt the pressure this time to find work. Thankfully I managed to pick up some extra care work and even some cleaning work at a local nursery that I worked in a few years ago. When they offered me the work I could have cried with relief.
Being classed as a key worker this lockdown and with Jacobs mental health issues during the first time the boys have remained in the classroom at school and I honestly could not be more thankful to their school for that. Being in school has meant that their day to day life has had routine and had their peers in their respective classes and I know that we have been so lucky.
When the 5 month road map was announced by the Prime Minister I am not going to lie I cried with sheer relief.
It is going to be another 6-7 weeks before I can open up my nail and beauty business and another month or so before I can sit outside socially with my friends and loved ones but knowing it is going to happen is certainly making it easier to bare.
This summer I will not be taking days out with friends and family for granted.
What I will be doing is counting down the days through each step till we finally ditch the face mask, we can ditch space and finally live …
