Making Memories … Riding A Bike

Making Memories ... Riding A Bike The Oliver\\\'s MadhouseIf you have been round here a while you will know that I class bike riding as a key life skill and one that is important for every child.

Jacob started his proper journey to riding a bike back in January and he did well but with lockdown taking effect and all of us staying nearer to home we hadn’t really looked at doing anymore with him on his bike.

Last week however with the lockdown still in place but having the outside activity option increased we decided to take the boys to a local park that had an adjoining grass field. We knew that were unable to use the park facility but we wanted to let them run off some energy so it seemed like a perfect choice.

On arriving the kids were a little disappointed at having the park cordoned off even though we explained this before we went. However when Ollie pulled out Jacobs bike and Joshua’s football there were happy faces all around.

I have struggled over the last 9 weeks and my mental health has seriously been effected having already been a PTSD sufferer. The boys have also started to seriously suffer with the locked in aspect so this trip out really was  needed.

Making Memories ... Riding A Bike The Oliver\\\'s MadhouseJoshua spent some time refining his football skills, and followed it off with a run around the entire field.

Jacob on the other hand jumped on his bike and set off like he was a pro! He was super wobbly but his face was priceless!

Making Memories ... Riding A Bike The Oliver\\\'s MadhouseAll 3 of us was jumping for joy when we realised that he had in fact done it!  My little boy had cracked riding his bike and was finally on two wheels!

This is a massive milestone for any kid. The freedom to ride wherever they like.

Proud doesn’t even come close to how I felt watching his little face concentrating and succeeding in his mission to ride his bike like a big boy. His determination certainly paid off.
