On the 6th January I headed to my first weigh in to get my starting weight and I am not ashamed to say now to you dear readers that once my family slept I cried uncontrollable sobs. How had I let myself get this big? Why had I not done something sooner? How can I live on a constant diet?
That first meeting I sat with so many newbies and sitting with my friend I was of mixed views to slimming world. Part of my personality has an ingrained negativity and I genuinely sat and listened with a degree of hope but also a fair bit of negativity that anything like this would allow the use of Diet Coke and carbs and still help me loose weight.
After standing on those scales my friend and I didn’t stay for the full group meeting we headed to Asda to do a healthy shop for basics. A wise move as after the wracking sobs of my actual weight sinking in. Wise choice really since my normal pattern would have been to eat the contents of the fridge.
The side effects to being ‘on plan’ mean that we no longer seem to argue over teatimes nor do we throw out food either. Meal planning means that it has taken the stress out of the kitchen and out of teatime. All of which make the most agreeable side effects!
This is the first time in 6 weeks Ollie and I haven’t had a single takeaway. And so far we haven’t missed it either.
Tomorrow I am off to town to buy some smaller jeans … My size 20 jeans are now falling down and I need at least one pair that will stay up. I have also had all my hair chopped off. My hair has been used as a mask to hide behind for a long time. I am finally feeling in control.
