My best friend and I had a discussion the other day (in fairness we have them regularly about stuff) about that period of time before you become a parent and the expectations you put on yourself, yes you will breastfeed, of course you will be a cloth bum mum and your angelic little cherub is going to sleep through the night, and hit its milestones with ease.
I think as parents we all give ourselves hard times for not doing something or not thinking of doing something sooner …. the list could go on and on!
So here is where I sit on the controversial parenting debate (as no matter what the subject matter if its parent related it always controversial) …
lets just be parents
All very different and all very much trying to build our own instruction manuals for our children that will work… or at least a way we can muddle through as best we can.
I recently watched and smiled at Cussons new advert advertising their Snuggly Noses product and it made me laugh and nod! (If you have not seen the advert you can find it HERE) Its honest … although obviously tailored to be shown before the watershed it discusses motherhood and there is no mention of cracked nipples, piles or lady bits that may never be the same again…. but maybe that’s just me lowering the tone?
Thinking about my original thoughts on motherhood and what my expectations were ….
I may not have breastfed for long, or been the cloth bum Mum that I had intended .. but I am ok with that .. and you never know there maybe a next time to try again?!

I agree – it’s tough, it’s hard and sometimes it reduces me to tears, but I wouldn’t have it any other way either. We should all stop giving ourselves a hard time and be proud of these little people we have made.
thats totally it! i think we are all different lets celebrate!
I raise my voice far to much, then hate myself for doing it. We put so much pressure on ourselves, and then everyone else has an opinion too. Parenting is a personal journey and things change when the reality of it hits us
totally and i dont know about you Zena but that worry of what others things does get to me sometimes too!
