Our Autumn Break In Yorkshire At Cayton Bay

Our Autumn Break In Yorkshire At Cayton Bay The Oliver\\\'s MadhouseFor us the autumn signals the calm before the storm.

My busiest work period is mid November through to January and with limited holiday requests approved in December for my husband we like to normally take the October half term together or get a long weekend break in together somewhere by the sea on the Yorkshire Coast.

Over the last 8 years we have been up and down the Yorkshire Coast for this break but have never visited the Cayton Bay Holiday Park so with sun vouchers collected for the £9.50 holidays (which are never really £9.50 with the add ons you have to buy) we managed to get a reasonably priced Friday to Monday break in at the Cayton Bay site.

Before we set off we knew that the weather that had been predicted was not the greatest and with a trip to Whitby planned on the day of arrival we set off early but we hadn’t predicted at just how foul the weather would be.

The rain was lashing down, the fog was low and we knew we had to have a quick visit instead of the full day we had planned.

We parked up and hot footed it for lunch at one of our favourite fish and chip restaurants, Hadley and had the most delicious meal. We fitted in a trip to some of the regular shops we visit every time we are there and obviously had to fit in a some 2p machine time in the amusements and then an ice-cream inside!

After getting immensely soggy we finally set of in the hopes of our caravan being ready earlier than the standard 3pm check in and thankfully we were lucky it was ready and waiting.

Our Autumn Break In Yorkshire At Cayton Bay The Oliver\\\'s MadhouseWe decided that on the Saturday we were going to stay round the park and make the most of taking things slowly with no massive fixed plans. So we headed to swimming first thing and after a really rude encounter with a staff member telling me it wasn’t his problem to sort in the ladies toilets where there was a massive puddle we finally managed to get in the pool. Which I have to say was a really nice pool. There was limited changing rooms which was tricky waiting around to get dressed and undressed but overall it was a lovely pool.

That evening we headed to the amusements before heading back to the caravan to get all snuggly and warm and have some snacks before bed.

We all slept well and the following day we headed instead to Filey.

The weather was clear and calm so we finally managed to get the boys on the beach for a few hours where they dug in the sand and played. Jacob wanted to swim in the sea! Thankfully Ollie convinced him not too. We did get to watch the RNLI land their boat on the beach to be dragged out to which was really fascinating.

Our Autumn Break In Yorkshire At Cayton Bay The Oliver\\\'s MadhouseThis break was all about family and chilling and I have to say I am so pleased we got the chance to go it was much needed.

Our Autumn Break In Yorkshire At Cayton Bay The Oliver\\\'s MadhouseLife is short and we have had many reminders of that over recent months.

Our Autumn Break In Yorkshire At Cayton Bay The Oliver\\\'s MadhouseNext on the cards is a parents only break … the first time since Joshua was born over 7 years ago, so watch this pace on where we go!
