Having been a driver for 19 years and a parent for 15 years I can honestly say that first drive with you new bundle of joy strapped safely in the car is one that so many parents seem to remember vividly from those first memories with their baby.
With each of my 3 children, the drive home marked a new start with a new life and a whole new adventure and with it comes a whole new responsibility!
Thankfully it seems that parents become far more safety conscience the moment they have their precious cargo on board. A recent survey [i] of 1,000 UK parents showed that over half didn’t check if they were within the speed limits or check their seatbelt before they had kids!
Personally I find it super shocking but to put this to the test, Maxi-Cosi, manufacturers of child car seats for over 30 years, conducted a social experiment with the British School of Motoring to pit non-parents against parents to back up the research that parent drivers tend to be more aware of the roads and speed limits. The experiment backed up the research, with the parent-drivers being more aware of the road and watching their speed.
Maxi-Cosi is sharing top tips on how to ‘drive like a parent’, making every day journeys less dangerous for all road users.

Some excellent advice, I used to drive with a car full of children, including child minded ones, which I had written permission from their parents, to allow me to drive them!
