Taking Time To Prioritise My Own Well Being

*Collaborative post*

Taking Time To Prioritise My Own Well Being The Oliver\\\'s MadhouseThis year I have started to make a concerted effort to readdress my life. I have started to look at taking care of me and have made some small changes. However, I know I need to make more changes and to take time to prioritise my own well being.

My Own Well Being

Over the last few years I have had some major health issues. Not to mention my mental health issues of anxiety and stress. So for me making permanent changes that would continue long term were paramount.

My Weight Loss

Taking Time To Prioritise My Own Well Being The Oliver\\\'s MadhouseWeight loss has been a battle I have continually struggled with thought my adult life. This year I decided that shifting the extra weight was must but I wanted to make it a long term journey not a quick fix.

Over the last few weeks I have finally been in a place mental to start addressing my food intake and take regular time out for exercise. Something I had not prioritised previously.

I am not afraid to admit that ‘Boogie Bounce‘ (dancing on a trampoline) has been epic fun if not super scary but if I can don some lycra and exercise anyone can. I can promise you however that you will feel so much better for exercising. In fact its fabulous at helping me sleep!

You Are What You Eat

Taking Time To Prioritise My Own Well Being The Oliver\\\'s MadhouseIf I had written this over January then I am not going to lie … I would have been a giant piece of cake. My diet has been super poor. Knowing that I am turning 40 in September I am positive I am not going to be fat at 40 so I have been making food changes all over.

As a family we have been meal planning which has saved us from eating a massive amount of takeaways. Personally however I have been looking more at the types of things that are good for me and my brain. I recently read an article – A Brain Healthy Diet which suggest some foods that make for great additions into our every day diets that can help keep our brains active and functioning well.

Addressing Work Life Balance

Taking Time To Prioritise My Own Well Being The Oliver\\\'s MadhouseBeing self employed for the last 5 ish years has been a real eye opener. The flexility of working for myself has been great for the family unit but it has taken its toll on my mental health. There really were no ‘none working’ hours. I was online and working all the time and I learnt the hard way that you need to step away from work and have a more rigid set of working hours if possible.

Planning out my time has been really important and regaining the work life balance. I now have set working hours that I try to stick and it has made things a lot easier.
