We are family of film lovers and so it has always been a milestone that I have wanted to get to that we could visit the cinema as a family of 4.
As Jacob is now 2 we had started thinking that we would take the plunge soon as he has become obsessed with animated films we were even more convinced that the time was imminent to go and watch a film.
Last weekend we had the pleasure of finally visiting the cinema as a family of 4 to watch the newest animated film Sherlock Gnomes at Showcase Cinemas de Lux in Derby’s Intu Centre and we were all excited!
If I am honest we don’t regularly visit any Showcase cinemas as we had become stuck in a viewing rut but I will certainly be taking a look at others in the area too as it had fabulously comfy luxury reclining seats and with the supersized Plus screen it made for fantastic viewing time!
First however it was time for popcorn, snacks and drinks and then we headed to screen 8 ready for the off.
Jacob was obviously low in his seat so was thrilled to find downstairs a massive stack of seat boosters so we could comfortably raise him up to proper viewing height! (thanks Showcase)
The film was so good, we had watched the first film from 2011 Gnomeo & Julie so were thrilled that nearly all of the animated cast were featured but you didn’t need to have seen the first film to enjoy this film at all which was nice.
For the first half of the film Jacob sat well while Joshua and I ate salted popcorn, and Ollie tucked into chocolate with Jacob but he soon fancied a wonder and thankfully we had chosen to sit on an isle to he spend around 20 minutes waking up and down a few steps quietly while watching the film, then sitting on the steps for a while followed by the remainder snuggled on my knee.
We will certainly be heading to the pictures again as a family soon.
Sherlock Gnomes premieres on 11th May across the UK, however there are some sneaky pre premiere shows happening so keep your eyes peeled!
