I have no idea where time has gone.
I seem to have blinked and missed most of the last 3 years. Jacob will be 4 next birthday and although I am drinking in all his quirkiness I am acutely aware that this summer will make the last one for him still in nursery.
This time next year I will be counting down the weeks for his first year in school as he starts reception class in September 2020.
It will be the year I panic over school placement day,. Feeling ill that he might not get a place in his brothers school. It will be the year I hold his hand and walk up that school path with excitement but trepidation that life is going to get a whole lot more different.
It will also mark the very last time I go through this stage of parenting. As my youngest baby becomes a fully fledged little boy in reception.
What is it about having your last child that makes it all the more emotional at every last that happens?
Although I won’t be that sad at ticking off the last ever school run!
Jacob has come on so well over the last year since being at nursery. He is my super sociable child that really needs no introductions. He just gets stuck in meeting new people and attacks new things with utter gusto. I have no doubt this little boy is going to thrive when he goes up to school.
For now however he is embarking on his last year in Pre School and with so many of the older ones leaving he is going to enjoy having more time with the nursery staff. He loves his nursery ladies.
Good bye little toddler, hello big pre schooler.
This year I am going to drink up this little guys oddities and smiles. And while he is still so loving and wanting to give me cuddles I am going to embrace those too.
Here’s to the last year before starting school.
Can’t believe how fast the time is going. Enjoy it and have a lovely summer xx
