The summer holidays are just around the corner, leaving many parents increasingly worried about how they’re going to survive. Trying to come up with boredom-busting activities for an entire six weeks can be daunting and extremely difficult!
So, if you’re looking to stay sane this summer while keeping the kids happy, here you’ll discover some great ideas of things to do during that long six-week break.
Take advantage of free activities
It’s not just a challenge to come up with things to do for the kids for six weeks. It’s also a challenge to keep the costs down! If you’re looking to save money during the summer holidays, there are a lot of free, or at least minimally costly activities you can take advantage of.
On rainy days, (because let’s face it, this is British summer!), you could have movie days, create an indoor obstacle course, or have a craft day.
If you need to get out of the house, try looking for nearby free activities such as museums, libraries or even just going to a local park or beach. You could also let the kids camp outside in the garden – something they’re sure to love!
Consider a day trip to London
The UK’s capital is a great place for families. As well as being home to some of the best attractions in the country, there’s also a significant amount of free activities to get involved in too. You’ll find literally thousands of things for kids to do in London, and it’s not as expensive as you might think either.
You can cut the costs of a London trip in many ways. Day passes can help save a significant amount on major attractions, while you can save money on travel with super off-peak tickets. You could also take your own food and have a picnic in one of the city’s parks.
Kids groups and activities
During the holidays, you’ll find a lot of local groups and activities for the kids. Check out your local leisure centre to see what classes they’ll be running.
You’ll also find kids clubs held locally, along with a lot of special community summer activities you can partake in. You could even take a look on Facebook on local groups to see what up and coming activities are planned. Getting your kids involved in classes or groups will also help them to socialise and meet new people.
These are just a small number of things you can during those long six-week holidays. Whatever your budget, there’s something you and the kids can do to make the most of the summer.
