Types Of Laser Hair Removal And How They Differ

Types Of Laser Hair Removal And How They Differ The Oliver\\\'s MadhouseLaser Hair Removal is fast becoming the preferred way of hair removal when people think about a long term solution. The process is fast, it’s done professionally and it gives the user long term results on a consistent basis.

There were doubts about it when it was introduced, but now it has established itself as a proven method of hair removal. It is a safe method in the hands of a qualified practitioner. It is a process that requires skill and expertise.

One should rely only on a clinic that has the experience and good reputation of providing such services.

How does it work?

The process works by heating the hair follicles by focusing light on them. The melanin in the hair absorbs the heat more quickly and gets damaged while leaving the skin around it unharmed. It is recommended that the hair should not be too thick or long.

Users are encouraged to shave the area a few days ahead so that the effect of the damage will not be felt too much.

What are the types?

Ruby Laser hair removal uses a synthetic ruby crystal rod as the medium to focus light. It works well for users who have light skin and dark hair. It runs into trouble if one has darker skin or even has a tan. It also targets a relatively small area.

This was one of the earliest methods used. The machines that use ruby rods are getting outdated and getting replaced by newer methods.

Alexandrite laser hair removal is the fastest among the types of lasers used. It uses an alexandrite crystal. It is the ideal method while targeting a large area. It is capable of targeting even thin hair follicles. The drawback of this method is that it also works best on users having a lighter complexion.

IPL hair removal uses a similar principle to laser hair removal. Technically it should not be classified as a laser treatment. It uses a high-intensity light instead of a laser. It usually requires many more sessions since the light is not as concentrated as in a laser. It also does not work on light or grey hair.

Diode laser hair removal is recommended for treating a large area of the skin. It uses semiconductors instead of crystals. It is also beneficial since the machines are smaller than in other methods. It also works well on darker skin. It is slightly less effective on lighter or finer hair. A lot of reputed establishments like Therapie Clinic use this method.

Nd: YAG stands for neodymium-doped yttrium aluminium garnet. This is also a crystal-based laser hair removal method. It works on all skin colours. It is less effective on finer hair and hair that has a lighter colour. It is also reported to be slightly more painful than the other methods. This kind of laser is also used for eye surgeries.

While some of these methods are getting rapidly replaced, the other methods are finding their niche. IPL is considered slightly cheaper. It, however, requires more sessions which takes the total cost higher.
