Unexpected Perks of Being a Parent

Unexpected Perks of Being a Parent The Oliver\\\'s MadhouseThere are many unexpected perks of being a parent. Before you become a parent, you have this vision of what life will be like. You think about how you’ll keep baby safe and take care of them and nourish them, but what you don’t’ think about is the unexpected perks!

You’re Never Lonely
Sure there may be days where you’re at your wits end with your child’s behaviour, but the reality is you never have to be lonely again. You can take a break with a girl’s night out to get away but when you return, you’ll always have that little human there to keep you company.

Everyone is Super Nice
Now that you’re a parent, the perk of running into more nice people arrives. It’s amazing how having that mini human with you is enough for some strangers to strike up a conversation. I have lost count of how many times paying for my shopping with my kids in tow has lead to a conversation with the checkout operator or even customer behind.

New Respect for Your Own Parents
Once you become a parent, you start to develop a new respect for your own parents. You learn that being a parent is the most difficult but rewarding job on Earth. No wonder your parents were “hard on you” and kept you in line, they only wanted what was best for you.

Unexpected Perks of Being a Parent The Oliver\\\'s MadhouseYou Have an Excuse
No more trying to think up a lame excuse as to why you can’t attend a private function or friend’s social gathering. You have a child now, and with that comes the amazing perk of being able to always have an excuse to get out of anything you don’t want to do.

Develop Multi-Tasking Skills
It’s amazing the skills that you become the master of when you’re a parent. All of a sudden you are the master of your life, able to multi-task like a Ninja warrior. Developing multi-tasking skills is a huge unexpected perk of being a parent now that I’m juggling the duty of parenthood and work.

Your Social Media Blows Up
Everyone loves a cute baby face and that toddler pose! One of the unexpected perks I’ve noticed since becoming a parent is that everyone loves a cute baby, toddler and kid photo. Capture some memorable moments.

Reliving Childhood
There’s one last unexpected perk to being a parent that I must share today, the perk of being able to relive your childhood. Now that you’re a parent, you can act silly and introduce your children to those favourite childhood games and films you had. This is by far one of the best unexpected perks of being a parent.

Although being a parent it opens up a whole new world of fun and adventures. You only get one childhood per child, make sure you enjoy these unexpected perks.
