Updating Your Bedroom For Autumn

Updating Your Bedroom For Autumn The Oliver\\\'s Madhouse

Putting the time and effort into revamping my home slightly is an inexpensive way for me to fall back in love with my décor all over again.

Making small seasonal changes can be an easy way to prevent stagnant designs from plaguing your home. I always give my living room and bedroom a refresh when each season rolls around.

With autumn steadily approaching, I wanted to share with you some of my top tips for updating your bedroom in time.

Get Some New Soft Furnishings

I always love more cushions and pillows at this time of year. I tend to opt for autumnal colours – dark reds, browns, oranges as they feel so comfy and homely. I often have a blanket out ready for when the colder nights roll in – sometimes you want nothing more than to curl up in a blanket while watching a DVD. For me that’s a perfect autumnal evening!

I don’t do this every season but I do check my furniture every season to see if it needs replacing. With a new bed in mind, I have been considering one of these cheap divan beds from the Sleep Station. We have decided that we will be upgrading to a king-sized bed from a standard double too.

Updating your bedroom for autumn can be as easy as adding a double TV bed. Combining the latest television technology with a comfortable double bed, double TV beds provide the perfect solution for any room undergoing a seasonal update. Not only will you benefit from the feature-filled built-in media system, but double TV beds also offer superior sleeping comfort compared to other double beds in its class

There is plenty of affordable and beautiful bedroom furniture out there so that you can fall back in love with your relaxation space and not break the bank.

Make It Smell Nice

I love scented candles and reed diffusers in autumn and winter and I always opt for those deliciously seasonal autumnal scents – cinnamons, nutmegs and other similar aromas. I love to have one lit on my bedside table to make the room smell amazing.

Ridding your home of clutter shouldn’t just be something you do every spring – it can (and should) be done regularly throughout the year. I love to do it every season. I go through my clothing, getting rid of anything that I haven’t worn in months, especially if it is seasonally inappropriate. I will get rid of anything that no longer gets used or is no longer wanted – books that I’ve read or am no longer interested in, unused and unopened beauty products. These items I will either donate to charity shops or sell on Facebook sites. Selling them on means that there is a little fund available for more pillows and candles!

Change Your Curtains

Not everyone does this but it is recommended you should take down your curtains and clean them at least twice a year. Changing them seasonally is an optimal practice – clean the old ones and put up the new ones; next time switch them back again. I would opt for slightly thicker curtains in the autumn and winter for maximum heat insulation.

I have a winter set and summer set of duvet covers and curtains to make it all tie in beautifully.

Do you make changes in your home for different seasons? What do you do?
