Ways to Have a Clean and Healthy Home for Your Children

Ways to Have a Clean and Healthy Home for Your Children The Oliver\\\'s MadhouseThere’s never a time where parents are not worried about their children’s health and wellbeing. It becomes overwhelming at times, and other times you feel like you’ve finally cracked the code.

The truth is, there’s always some new or unexpected way you may feel like you’re not doing enough, but the easiest way to ensure a healthy and toxin-free environment for your children starts from your home.

Here are 5 great ways to go toxin-free and make sure your children live and play in a clean and safe environment.

1. Swap Your Cleaners With Natural Ones

You may believe that spraying and cleaning your home with all of these cleaners daily will keep it toxin-free, but each product contains harsh pollutants and volatile organic compounds (VOCs) that are as toxic to people as smoking!

Swapping current chemically induced cleaners with healthier and more inexpensive natural cleaning products is the simplest method to ensure that your home is chemical-free.

2. Clean the Curtains Regularly

Curtains absorb dust and allergen since they’re the closest to our windows and the outside space. We wash our clothes so often but forget that curtains can also become a source of unhealthy dust and particles.

The same goes for sofa coverings and cushion covers that are exposed all the time.

Aim to wash them every other month.

3. Dust and Clean Regularly

Allergens and dust particles fly about our spaces every time we open windows or enter and exit our areas. This does not imply that you must close all doors and windows and remain still. And since it won’t be possible, worrying about it isn’t an option.

To decrease the number of allergens entering the house, try not to wear shoes inside and place doormats in front of each door.

You should also be aware of your disposables and periodically remove them from your environment. A skip that will take care of the trash and disposables for you is a terrific approach to achieve this. All you have to do is call for a skip hire that will regularly gather and dispose of your leftover trash and harmful toxins.

4. Pay Attention to Kids’ Toys

Children thrive best when they’re playing and letting their imagination run wild. But as parents, we need to select toxin-free and harmless toys for our little ones carefully.

You’ll be surprised to know how damaging and toxic toys can be, as some of them have substances such as BPA, PVC, lead, phthalates, cadmium, chlorine, and arsenic.

Toxic toys can release harmful gases into your child’s environment. When babies and toddlers put their toys in their mouths, they are exposed to these toxins. Even breathing in the air around the toys can potentially expose you.

Look for unfinished, robust, non-toxic wooden toys, preferably manufactured from responsibly harvested hardwood to ensure a fun but, most importantly, safe playtime.

5. It’s a No-Plastic Zone

We all know how harmful plastics are to our environment. But their ease of use doesn’t stop us from practically filling our fridge and cupboards full of plastic tupperware.

The truth is, plastics are even dangerous for us and our households.  Phthalates (plasticizers) are present in all plastics and are hazardous to the brain’s endocrine system, neurological system, and developing portions.

Whenever we warm up food in these containers, we expose our food and the air we breathe to these toxic chemicals. This is why it’s critical to use glass, steel, or other environmentally friendly materials to promote healthy eating.
